I am with you Elmy lookin' for a gold American coin. Found several English/Celtic so I know the look/feel and excitement, they are elusive.

SL 52, if you swing it, they will come. Took forever for me to find my first silver, and then after that a Merc eluded forever it seemed as well. IMO it is truly about location. Madam Sitter will be on your horizon someday soon.

Now that I unearthed a Seated Dime I suppose the Capped Bust would be next along with a Trime and a Half Dime. Gold coin would a bucket lister at the end of a big rainbow!!!!

WOW, you guys already mentioned some great things for a list.. Here's my top five.
1) a twenty dollar gold piece
2) a gold royale from the 1715 fleet
3) a massive plat ring found beach hunting
4) a 20 cent piece
5) a US trade dollar .............................. ok you guys can shake me anytime to wake me up ! LOL

DW-BGW that one is on my list as well, just not at the "top", sure wasn't a lot of them made, gonna be a tuffy, not much expectation to find one, but ya never know.

A seated half Got my gold coin first year detecting lucky I guess but the same park I got one in gave up a lot of silver and my first CC coin which are rare here in CT
