Garrett carrot.
 
I have the Garrett carrot and the Nokta. May be just because I have used the Garrett more but I prefer it. I use the detune a lot to narrow my search. Has plenty of depth. Sturdy build. Good on batteries. Waterproof to 10 ft. Also like the fact that the light is on when the detector is on- very easy to tell if I remembered to turn it off before I stand back up. The Nokta has to have its light turned on, which may help on battery life. Intigued by the Whites TRX because it detects mainly at the tip but have never used one, so....

I have used all the Major Brands. Sunray is the best but barring the Sunray the Garrett Carrot is the best. Only thing I do not like about the Garrett is the fact that is that it does not detect at the tip like the TRX. TRX was not loud enough for me to hear otherwise I would own one now.
 
Where I live in the rainy PNW the carrot is at the top because of it being waterproof. I tried a Makro and didn't care for it much and swapped it for the carrot. I will have to say though, if it's dry out I LOVE the Nokta RS, you don't hear about that one much but they're great! :thumbup:
 
I have two Garrett Pin Pointer AT's & two Garrett Pin Pointer II's and all are out standing. I tried the White's Bulleye TRX and to me it was not as good as the Garrett's and ended up send it back.
