There are quite a few pin pointers on the market. What is your favorite pin pointer and WHY? Pros and Cons of the ones you have had experience using. Thanks

So far for my needs would be the Whites TRX. When I used it in the "HOT" virginia soil for DIV, it truly amazed me at the depth of the unit vs my buddy using his Nokta pinpointer, and my other friends who have the Garrett Carrot.

Do you find it a disadvantage the TRX only uses the tip as others use the sides as well as the tip? Thanks

Oh heavens no Bill. I like how you can go into advanced settings and change the sensitivity as well! I only found that out from a YouTube video! Ha!

I will probably get the Whites TRX and the Garrett Pro AT (Carrot) Have the best if both worlds. Thanks

I had both the Whites TRX and the Garrett carrot. They both worked well, and the TRX had the better sound, but because of my bad hearing, I only used both of them on vibrate. The Garrett seemed to have a much stronger vibrate that I could feel better, and just seemed to fit in my hand better. So I kept the Garrett and let the TRX go with a detector that I sold.

My fave is my only--a vibraprobe 580. It's a pulse, waterproof and very rugged. It doesn't make noise--just vibrates. Turns on and off by pointing it up. I use it inland and at the shore.

It picks up from the side too. I usually use it on setting #3 and sometimes #2. Setting #4 is just too strong.

I love the Whites TRX pin-pointer BUT I need to review the operating instructions each time I walk away
from detecting for any length of time. So as good a these new pin pointers are my favorite is the Tinytec.

I have the Garrett pinpointer and am buying the Deteknix Pinpointer. It is a pulse pinpointer and is just a sturdy as the Garrett. Not getting rid of my Garrett pinpointer, its just because my White's V3i gets interference with the Garrett pinpointer. My Garrett AT Pro, and my Teknetics T-2 get along with the Garrett pinpointer. The Deteknix Pinpointer is to be used with my white's machines.

I like the Garrett Carrot but at times it is too sensitive. I know you can turn it down but that really does not work that well.

My favourite pinpointer probe is the Sunray DX-1,you hear everything through your headphones thats the main advantage and very reliable as well.

Mine is the S-1 Sun Ray probe for my Sovereigns as like you say you hear everything though the headphones.
Now for my other detectors I have my Uni Probe that is built into the headphones as the depth is the best of any pin pointing probe, in fact most targets I can pinpoint before I dig. These have the best quality headphones too and a very nice probe too so for the price you have a quality headphones and probe and you don't have to take them off as you just flip a toggle switch on the headphones from detector to probe, but they do cost a bit more for a reason as they are the best and most that have them don't sell them as they are very hard to find a used set.

Adjusting it is also tricky for me at times. I never seem to remember if you hold down the button, when to hold it...pita on the fly for me. Easier to just detune and leave it set to max IMO.

I got a New Garrot Carrot for my birthday. I especially like being able to change sensitivity. The different sensitivity levels give me a better idea of how deep I need to dig to reach the target. I like the fact that it is waterproof to 10 feet. I ruined the speaker in my original Pro Pointer by getting it wet. With the AT Pro Pointer you can mute the tones so that it only vibrates. Useful when you are in area where you do not want to draw attention to yourself.

The one thing that I wish was different is the length of time that the Carrot stays on a higher sensitivity setting. Five seconds does not always give me enough time to be certain of exactly where my target might be.

Another Positive is the Outstanding Customer Service that one gets from Garrett in case something should go wrong with any of their Products.

I have the Makro. I wanted a pointer that could be used in vibration mode only and one that was submersible. I works very well for me. The led light is a bonus.

I know the Garrett Pro pointer you have to GB every time you stick it in a whole. I haven't tried the TRX yet. I guess that is next on my list. I have the Pro pointer also the carrot and the Minelab Ppointer still in the box also a new Pro pointer new still in the box.

WHAT! You might have to balance each time if you leave it on all the time.

The Propointer will readjust if left on for periods. Easy to just power down as a practice.

I can say this about the TRX. When I used it in Virginia for DIV in November, it was outstanding! Easily penetrated that hot soil with ease. I haven't had a chance to try the carrot yet, but I was helping my buddy with his Orange to find targets in the hole that his wasn't quite locking onto. :) Both units are great units, IMO
