In the hole 2-3" is about the right depth of field.
Most of my targets are usually 6" or less so I figured out a way to get the Propointer to get me to that mark and zero in on targets from the top.
I would use a Pistol Probe instead but that one is too big and the Propointer works perfectly for my needs once I figured out how to get it to go further.
What did you do to extend the Propointer range?
I sure as heck don't use a coin to do this.
That takes 2 hands, and there are kits you can buy out there that will attach to the unit so you can do this one handed but I figured out a way to do this way easier, way faster and by spending very little money.
I just go to Home Depot and buy a bag of 3/4" emt pipe straps, 2 hole, then I just bend the ends around and wear it on my thumb for all of my hunts.
I won't hunt without my Propointer, and now I won't hunt without using one of these because it is just to frustrating.
Just by holding the PP in my hand naturally my range is extended by at least and inch.
By slightly moving my thumb up and then back on the unit one handed I can supertune to the max.
I use that PP to find the exact area of my target from the top of the ground and to gauge depth an every target.
Heavy vibrating and a fast tone shallow, slower tone it will be deeper, just a few clicks it might be 5-6" or even more in damp soil and this is not on big cans this is on coin sized objects.
Even with the PP in a hole I can instantly supertune if needed, and by hunting and using the PP this way I can make small holes and recover targets quicker than anyone I have ever hunted with.
