what is the best probe?

If I have it set right so that I hear the slight pulse of the probe and go into the hole or even those at 3-4 inches I can hear a change in the pulse on dime or pennies and know it is seeing it at 4 inches or more, if it really make a difference it is within 2-3 inches and when it screams i know I am touching it or very close to the target.
I also notice if the battery is getting lower it is not as stable as a new battery is and seen where I had to change the freq on the UniProbe to run stable if using some detectors as it will interferre with the UniProbe. If the sound is cutting out only when switched to the probe it is probably a bad connection in the probe where it connect to the headphones. Now if it also doing this with the probe off and the detector on than it is probably in the cable that runs from the detector to the headphones with is a replaceable cable.
Hope it is a easy fix and know Detector Pro the maker of it will take care of you well.

i am using the Garrett Pro Pointer and it seems like i have to replace the battery almost every day as it gets so weak that i almost have to touch the target to get it to respond. are there any others that are more powerful or last longer on the battery?
thanks and HH

Yeah, you must have gotten a defective propointer. The battery in mine lasts for months. Always amazes me that a single 9 volt battery can last so long.

Randy: If it is not photo shop can you send me yours to try out :)) Just kidding but i would like to THANK YOU for your help and support on here .THANKS GUY !!!

Randy - thanks for sharing, it's great to see Minelab getting close to releasing their pinpointer!

I've had multiple Pro Pointers since they came out in 2008, and while it is the greatest thing since sliced bread:lol:, there is room for improvement and it looks like ML is doing that.

Specifically, adjustable sensitivity and the ability to turn the audio off. Hopefully that sens. control on the new ML pointer will give the ability to get more depth with stability.

The Propointer basically gets about an inch and a half on a coin, two inches at most. The metal trick that Doc described can help, but with the increased sensitivity also comes decreased stability so that trick doesn't do much good in many situations.

I contacted Garrett and all of their Pinpointers are on backorder so they can't send me one to replace mine so i would have to send mine in to be looked at and it looks like i would be out of a pinpointer for a couple of weeks. Yikes !! I wish the Minelab one was available NOW.

has anyone heard if the new Minelab probe will be wireless capable? that would be fantastic if it was so we didn't have to take off the headphones to hear it like i have to do now with the ProPointer.
