What is the best detector?

In metal detecting there is a saying. An experienced detector user will always do better with a cheap detector than an inexperienced detector user with the most expensive detector made....Jack

After having borrowed my neighbors MXT I'd have to say it is probably
the best I have handled. I plan to get one soon. I'd go with the MXT if you can afford it, in my opinion.

MXT is not expensive.
I`d call it mid-range-priced"

Minelab is twice more expensive. And Surfscanner - three times!!!!

So, for the price of one surfscanner one can buy three MXTs!!!! For himself, for his wife and for mother-in-law!!!

For coin shooting and jewelry hunting-I love my White's M6. It's not good for water hunting but just fine on beaches!

A lot of years have passed since my first metal detector. A guy I worked with got me into MDing. He had one he bought at a military sup plus store. He found a lot more than I did with a new one. I asked him how come. He told me that you have to KNOW your detector and listen the the sounds so you can tell good from bad. He really knew how to use that old thing. I was in too much of a hurry tell listen, so I dug everything. I still dig everything because I'm nosey. I just like to see what is in the ground, but I do have a lot of fun.
