Help me out Guys,I'm looking to buy a gold detector and I like the look and reports on the gold bug DP, Then I'm told its the same as the Tek G2 !! What Gives??

The Teknetics G2 is the exact same as the Fisher GB pro except for the cosmetic look. If I can help you any further please call me or email me from my site. Would love to help you.
Thanks! Lots of great guys and info here to be had!

Don't know anything about gold machines, all I do is coin hunt and a little bit of jewelry. But if you go to Kellyco's home page (link below) and click on Fisher then click on the machine you are interested in and then somewhere on that page you well see a blue button called compare click on that and it will let you pick 2 other detectors to compare line to line to your first pick.

The 2 machines you are talking about are made by the same company and I would guess they are close to the same.

P.S. and after you figure out what you want contact BigBoys Hobbies and give him a chance to make you a good deal.

I think the stock coil on the Gold Bug is the 5 inch DD...the stock coil on the G2 is the 11 inch DD.

Other than that and the rod configuration, I think they have the same exact operating frequency, functions and performance.

I have a Gold Bug SE with both coils....excellent unit. Super fast recovery speed, great depth and the 2 tone set point feature is really nice. Whatever unit you get, I bet dollars to donuts you get the other coil for it too !

These models (all three) have the same circuitry, with the exception of the scrolling name that displays at turn-on.

The Fisher Gold Bug Pro comes equipped with the round 5" DD coil, and has the control housing mounted on the 'S' rod.

The Fisher Gold Bug DP comes equipped with the 11" BiAxial DD coil, and has the control housing mounted on the 'S' rod.

In appearance, the two Fisher's look the same and have the same control face and push-buttons, just a different standard search coil.

The Teknetics G2 comes equipped with the 11" BiAxial DD coil, and has the control housing mounted on the Omega-style rod with the stand-up hand-grip. Also, the G2 differs from the two Fisher's in using a different push-button design.

Aside from that, they work the same simply based upon the coil mounted, the settings used, and the operators masterful control during a search.

? I thought that the G2 and the Gold Bug Pro / SE had the same specs / internals !

This might be a touch off subject but------The information that I have is that there are three(3) models of goldbug. The Goldbug reg, goldbug pro, Goldbug DP. Where does the Goldbug regular fit in when compared to the G2. The DP may just have the bigger coil for a deeper search, but are all three the same as the G2 except for the coil that comes with the machine???? Is the Goldbug regular a less of a machine than the rest and less than the G2???? Oh my--lol lol

The Big square box Gold Bugs are different machines.
The GB SE released last fall was the first of the new models
Then the GB Pro/ GB DP and G2 all related to each other very closely.
Different options of coil and control mount.
Updated software as new units came out , no different than the T2 now
with 3 or 4 versions out .
The GB Special Edition are no longer made and were about 100 bucks less
than current models.

I might get shot for this, but here goes.

The Gold Bug SE/Pro does have two (2) processors as shown in the picture below inside the two yellow boxes.

I have taken the steps to hide the info on these two processors for a number reasons along with some other info.

I will not be forced into revealing the info on these two CPU's either, so don't ask.

So, now I hope that this answers all those that asked if the Gold Bug SE / Pro has two processors, the answer is before you below.

Happy hunting guys.

What is the latest software version out? Anyone???

Some have reported version 4, but I have yet to see this in a picture.

I don't have a picture but the Goldbug that receied on Saturday pm is a version 4----no question about it. Hold the GG button and turn it on--Gold--Bug--4 have not had the time to figure out the difference, indeed if there is one----------will be working on it. This supposed to be just the plain Goldbug, no pro, no dp, no se just plain old Goldbug. lol lol Barney

I got my "Gold Bug Pro" (that's what it says on the faceplate) version "4" mounted on a Special Edition rod. I only had about 15 minutes to test it outside before it got dark. The gain was set at 100% and it was quiet as a mouse. I really like the tones. It really locks hard onto coins. I can't wait until tomorrow to do some serious testing. I'm so happy!:bouncy:
