What does 10k fo mean in a gold ring?

I dug a small ladies signet ring with Small diamonds marked 10kfo this morning.Any ideal what fo stands for(jeweler maybe/if so who?).The site was an old house from the 1850's.Anyone?

10 K is 417 in gold with the makers mark, nice find on the gold ring

I dug one marked 14kp last fall,that I had already written off as gold plated until my daughter explained that the p stood for plumb,not plated!

I found a ring that had 14kp also and thought the same thing about 10 years ago......
