What are your most interesting or unique finds?

One of my best finds of the year turned into three.

I found three (two in one weekend and one three months later) WWI 371st regiment medals created by the French government to honor the all black 371st regiment out of South Carolina in WWI. They were honored for Sept 28, 29 and Oct 1st 1918.

These medallions are bronze and are almost two inches in diameter.

I don't know how many were made, but probably less than 1,000. The best one of these two was donated to the SC State Museum. I still have the other two and have been looking for a permanent museum type home for one of the two I still have.

SO IMPRESSIVE:clapping:

GOOD FOR YOU FOR RESCUING HISTORY AND MAKING IT AVAILABLE TO BE APPRECIATED:usaflag:

Very cool finds! Were they all at the same location? It's great that you donated one to the museum. I guess finding three makes it easier to let go of one =)

The first two I found were on the same man's property (two houses across a side street from each other) which is why one on Friday and 2 on Monday. The third came up about 1.5 miles away in another neighborhood near our local college campus three months later. I had had a great hunt in these curbs earlier in the year (1936 and 1941 quarters, 1940 Walker and 1954 Franklin in about an hour) and was looking to see what I missed when I found the third medallion two houses up from where I had found the two halves.

I donated the best of the first two when I only had two medallions. There must have been a lot of WWI veterans from the 371st from Rock Hill, SC where I live since it was one of the larger towns in the state.

Pretty cool! I thought maybe they had some kind of get together which is why there were multiple drops. I guess there were just a lot from your town like you said =) Two quarters and two halfs in one day is awesome, especially since you found them in such short time!

found this weighted die several years ago...was using the Sovereign XS at the time.
It measures roughly 7/16" wide

Very cool! I've heard of those but never had the chance to roll one. Does it always land on 6 or something?

if everything went right for the cheater the die would land on 3 and the other weighted die should land on 4...since getting 7 total was the goal.
Didn't find any cheater's skeleton near the die :look:

One of a pair of loaded dice is a really cool find! Too bad you didn't find the other one.

A few of my different type finds,

A home made bracelet made out of wheat pennies.

An Axe Head that still had the wedge nails in it.

An ID Badge with the owners picture still in it, not often do we know who dropped the item we find, but in this case it is like a ghost from the past looking into your eyes!

Really cool finds! Love the bracelet =) Any idea how old the picture is?

Not sure how old the ID is but from material and construction, I would guess 1930's maybe but that is just a guess. Wheaties bracelet is really cool one of my all time favorite finds.
