Mike, way to go on all those rings!!! What a haul! Actually, I think that green one you have is a non-faceted aquamarine in its natural color (more greenish than the blue they achieve with heat treatment). Aquamarine in silver settings is fairly common since the two pair nicely. Stacy mentioned the possibility of tourmaline, and I would agree that's possible, though I would stick with my first guess. I don't think this one would qualify as emerald due to the color. Both emerald and aquamarine are forms of beryl, but emerald's color is due to unstable chromium ions (and thus the intense depth of color) while aquas get their color from traces of iron, which in this case gives them a more muted color.

Hi Stacy,

Yep, you got me pegged...graduate of the Gemological Institute of America, Class of 1983. I don't work in the trade, but the background is sometimess useful in the metal detecting hobby. One thing I learned is that you can never be 100% certain about a gemstone by just a picture or a casual look--there are just way too many fakes, sythetics, commonly or uncommonly encountered look-a-like stones, etc. What I tell everyone in the hobby who finds jewelry with stones is to have them checked by a jeweler who's been trained in using the appropriate instruments. It's just too easy to be fooled by appearances.
