What a Difference a Day Makes!

I hit the beach Saturday night with Tony and it was pretty bleak. I worked hard for a paltry $1.81 in change and NO BLING. Tony did better on the change but we were both in agreement that apparently the water was too cold for the swimmers we needed to lose some jewelry.

Fast forward to last night. I debated whether to go or not. Low tide at midnight, so I would normally go from 10PM to 2AM. I decided to go for it and headed down there at 10. Started working the wet sand at the water's edge. LOTS more targets this time...it was near 90 today and people were in the water in force. I hunted until about 2:30 and wound up with what you see here. I couldn't have been happier with the Excal...it was smooth as silk and on the scent tonight...I got to hear the beautiful low growl of gold THREE TIMES! The "Destiny" ring is 10K, the men's band is 14K, and the one with the stone says 22. And then there's the silver mesh ring. The other ring is a junker. Oh, and a 1940 wheatie!

I saw Walter down there and he was very excited...had 4 rings in two hours and he was just getting warmed up. I think it only gets better from here on in. I'm declaring bling season at Virginia Beach officially OPEN! :)

The haul...

I'm thinking I need an Excalibur before my visit. The surf at Gulf Shores had 1 to 2 foot swells at the spots where there was a lot of junk collecting just off the waters edge.

You can't go wrong with an Excal...I don't think I've ever seen anybody get one that didn't immediately start finding more gold. It's a great beach machine.

I'm looking forward to doing some hunting together. Looks like there will be plenty for everybody by then.

Thanks, but it's kind of tough taking pictures at night, which is the only time I hunt. I'll leave that to Max and the rest of the day pirates. I always enjoy his "digger" shots. :)
