Managed to pull this Calvary coat button from a heavily dozed cabin site tonight. It was a slamming 24 signal from all directions on my 800 in field 2 and it rolled out of the loose dirt in the first shovel full. First picture is as dug, the second is a gentle wash only. Man I love this hobby and still get excited finding treasure. Quite possibly my best ever Civil war button to date!

Thanks Dave the VDI was the highest I have ever seen for a Civil war button, still not sure why! Maybe the condition?

I can’t get over the condition of the button. The ground was extremely kind and preserved a wonderful piece of American history for you.

I found a button like this recently, except with an I. I assume it was lost turn of the century, and the I stands for infantry.

I think a lot of were lost post war time, I wonder if some were lost a GAR encampments etc.. also

Super button. the calvary button is the only one i have left to find. I found the hard one in March the Eaggle V button. I guess the Calvary one is the hardest

A Voltigeur Sweet. The Calvary came easy for me, funny how things work out!

Thanks Steve! It has been the strangest year for luck 🤞 and I am not complaining.
