Went to one of my favorite parks today and was rewarded with about 60 coins totaling $4.30 or so..

The place was so littered with bodies there was hardly room to detect so I picked three trees over next to the street where only a few people were laying or sitting. Using the "creep & sweep" method all these coins came from under and around those three trees. Found a bunch of dimes. This place should be ripe by Monday after the weekend mobs so I'll be hitting it then, especially where the large groups congregated. This park used to give up some rings so I'm hoping for a ring or two next trip.

Nice finds . Do you use the standard coil for your creep&sweep?

Mostly but I swap around from that to the Excelerator or the Sniper if I'm in a trashy area. I could have used it today as there were a lot of bottlecaps but my time was limited and I needed to cover as much area as possible but I may give it a whirl when I go back and see if I can nail a ring..

:usaflag:So what is the "creep & sweep" method? Do tell..

I've described it many times. It takes time and patience. Pick out a spot you want to hunt then stand in one spot and scan every inch of ground in front of you and out to the sides then when you think you have scanned it all out to as far as you can reach then move forward to that spot, stop and stand still and start over again. Then when you have covered a given area ( say a 10'x10' plot ) turn around and detect it the same way in the reverse direction. To make it thorough you can also scan that plot diagonally. It takes time but you will be surprised at how many coins you find that you would ordinarily skip over just walking and scanning.
