I must disagree that every day in the woods in a good day. Many years ago the state opened an old plantation to hunting for the first time in 15 years. A friend and I did our scouting and put up our ladder stands the night before the opening of deer hunting. Next morning I arrived at my stand well before daylight and proceeded to start up the ladder. Got to the top and missed my next handhold. I was falling out backwards when i jumped from the stand from about 11 feet in the air. Hit the ground with a resounding thump. Got up, climbed back in the stand and sat there for three hours. Right ankle was hurting like hades. Climbed down and using my muzzleloader as a cane I managed to walk the 3/4 miles to my truck. Took off my hunting boot and could see my ankle swelling so back on went the boot. Dang that hurt. Drove home and went to see one of those bone mechanics. Yep I had split the large bone in my lower leg. Ruined my deer season. It was not a good day. Be careful out there as accidents do happen and I could have been even more seriously hurt.
