Went back to the mosquito infested woods and exited the woods standing

I went back to the old trail that I noticed on a 1934 aerial map. Click here for first trip Skeeters were beating on me trying to steal my silver again :ROFLMAO: It was hot and humidity was through the roof. I knew I needed to get in a hunt today as Hurricane Henri is coming to knock on my door Sunday and Monday. I am glad I went. Signal was a smooth, sweet high tone with a TID of 30. Needless to say, I was very happy to see the SLQ !! The poor mercury dime though has seen better days. Any reason why this would happen to silver? Thanks for looking.

Nice finds Jim!!
That return to that area paid off for you.
Now you can rest tomorrow..🤭
Thanks Felix!
I’m not going to really have a choice with the hurricane 😂😂😂

Thinking something acidic in that area? Looks almost etched in that regard…..

Silver is always a good hunt, one with a stander is, hmmm, outstanding. And a nice crisp date, too. I've recovered a few silvers like your Merc over the years and usually when in that condition they were recovered from in or on the edge of gravel, like a road or walkway. HH jim tn

Nice job Jim talk about mosquitoes oh man yesterday I detected in RI on the way home one school I stopped at there were like 100 around me on my pants shirt arms I could not take it!
I stopped at another school in Ashaway RI that I found a 1905 Indian and a silver Roosevelt.
No mosquitoes also found a huge town park massive field I’ll be back !!!

Thanks Jim!
No gravel, road or walkway as you can see from the photo. It was under several tree roots right at waters edge. Long as it wasn’t a 1916D I suppose I can live with it 😂

Great hunt and finds of the silver. Wishing and praying for safety for you all who may be in the path of the approaching storm.
Thank you. It’s been downgraded to a tropical storm. Those along the coast will be obviously most impacted. I am experiencing heavy rain fall and 20-30 mph winds.

SLQ with a readable date too, nicely done…. Worst mosquitoes I ever ran into was about 25 years ago my wife and daughters and I were camping in Rhode Island near Lake Champlain..As the sun started going down a fog rolled in but it wasn’t for it was actually clouds of mosquitoes .. I recall doing a little metal detecting there and found a silver Canadian quarter .

Thanks bhpa. Those critters can be a pain. At least you left with a Canadian souvenir 😂

Really nice coins. Almost all the silvers i find have the same problem and i soak them in Krud Kutter or clean with an electrolysis machine i made then i scrub them with a stiff toothbrush and silver polish. HH Jim

I thought we had skeeters here until we went detecting in Mississippi, and they have the Zika virus down there bad. Your research is really paying off, nice slq!
hh jeff
Thanks Jeff. I hear in Mississippi they are much larger and only takes 6 of them to hold you down 😂

They are so big down south you can see stripes on them 😮 When I lived in Houston there was a small town south of there that had a mosquito festival every year, they would dress them up, race them ETC...
