Well I Guess I Spoke Too Soon About The Season Being Almost "Over"...

Mike,
I'm normally detecting limited times in heavily mineralised gold fields in Australia. Currently using a X-Terra 70.
I am about to relocate with beach detecting my only option.
I have been finding a few coins in the dry sand but haven't ventured to the wet sand or down to low tide.
What beach signs are indicators that father time may be hiding coins or jewelry besides detecting the whole beach.
I normally use the X- Terra forum so I don't wish to have a beach question on your forum that you have been asked repeatedly, maybe you have a FAQ area for me.
happy hunting

The best things to do are:

1) find out where the heaviest concentrations of beachgoers are during peak season

2) look for "cuts" where tidal action and erosion have removed sand and there's a drop-off from the dry to the wet, maybe a couple of feet or more

3) concentrate on the areas between the cut wall and the water at low tide and find the spot where there are a lot of coin targets close together. Work THAT area in a grid, slowly.

That's pretty much all there is to it.

Absolutely right...that stuff had been there for a while. That's the beauty of working cuts...you get to go back in time a little to when there WAS stuff to find. :)
