Well. I finally did it!!!

People come up to me and ask me what I've found over the years. My usual response is: "Well, I haven't found a gold coin or a silver dollar." Well, as of yesterday, I can cut that statement in half. I found an 1880 silver dollar.
After 20 years of detecting, I finally found one. My knees buckled and my legs shook and I would imagine my heart rate was off the charts.

Hahaha, gotta love the newbies!!!!

In the ground off the road a ways. Don't you want to know how deep and what settings he was using?

Sorry, I couldn't resist the temptation.
was about 6 inches deep and 3 feet from a road that was a major east west road and trading posts back in the 1800's. It was also known as the Honey Moon trail because newly Weds would take it to Niagara Falls by carriage.

You always remember your first, anything !!!! Took me 10 years, I was hunting the dry sand after a Polar Bear plunge.
I thought I have an iPhone by the size of the signals. As I was shaking the scoop all of a sudden, something goes flying up out of the scoop.
I couldnt believe what was sitting in the bottom of my scoop. When I put my glasses onto read the date, it turn out to be the 1st year Morgan's were minted.
I just couldnt figure out how this coin got to this location, coin was in extra fine condition but had black freckles all over it, I couldnt leave such a beautiful coin in that condition.
I cleaned it. Ive since found 2 more Morgan's and each time scratched my head as to how they got to where I found them, Still a thrill everytime,

Congrats on one of the BIG thrills of this hobby,

HH
