Well I did it.. Got a V3i................. Whew at first glance

Good luck with your new V3i! I've had mine around a month now and really like it.

A suggestion, MAKE SURE YOU GET A GREAT GROUND BALANCE! Sorry to yell but I can really say that if I had really really listened to that advice to start with I would have had an easier time. Make sure the ground is absolutely clear where you ground balance and I have found that doing the manual GB for a while really helps.

2nd suggestion - Be careful when you play with the settings, don't overdue it. The detector gets GREAT depth at the factor settings.

3rd suggestion - What has helped me the most is that when I get to a site (even one I have hunted before) I bury a coin at 6 to 9 inches. I lower my Rx and disc waaaaaay down till I can pick it up. Then I go through the filters for my swing speed and find which one works best (along with recovery). I recommend doing a sensitivity+zoom in the air to see what the EMI is like and then doing a ground tracking+zoom to see what the ground mineralization type and level is.

Good luck!

I hope someday to know a fraction of what you do..and again thank you for taking the time to point out some fantastic features that I will learn how to do.
