Yes, Neil. This is my first Minelab. And I am aware that halo don't happen in one night or even month. I understand now that reference must be more dense than air. We will give it a try. But still not many people with tiny gold items found.
Right now I suffer major delinquency problem. Bought house for 410, right now i owe 455 and now is worth only 270. Can't even lower my 6.5% on that. This kills me literally. Wish me luck I will need it.
If I ever save my house from foreclosure then my mind is set to somethnig like Excal2.
WoW...Good luck on that Lubelaczek.Hope everything works out well for you.HH

Hey Lubelaczek, sorry to hear about your housing predicament.

Your not going to increase your chance on getting any small gold with the Excal either other than your able to water detect with it. Excal,Sov,Explorer,Etrac.....they are about equal on smaller gold. Ive got an etrac/sov gt/excal2 and if Im hunting for small gold I will take my Tejon out.
thats why I asked if youve used minelabs before.now the minelabs will do very well on small gold rings and up but the thin gold chains and light hollow earrings and charms, those are tough if not impossible for the above mentioned minelabs. other detectors as well. some detectors are better at some things than others.
I did find some nice deep gold rings on a heavily hunted beach, probably passed over by many a detectorist. I like the 10X12 SEF on my Etrac:thumbup:

Thanks Neil, i like your last post a lot :)

Now heres a question for you, in your experince what would be all round better for beach work, if you ahd to choose - a waterproofed etrac or a excal 2???

I watched some vids of the excal and 2 and was amazed at the small gold they find,at super deep depth..You say you own one and you cant get small gold ??Check out some of the vids at youtube or minelabowners.com

thats easy, a waterproofed etrac. etrac resets quicker, has the quickmask feature which is how I use it(ironmask on the explorer), its got a visual ID and the sens feature on the etrac is super, it really keeps the detector hunting as deep as it can yet very stable. also I think the etrac and explorer handle black sand a bit better than the excal/sov, meaning they seem to penetrate it better is what Ive experienced.
