Weight Comparison between the ATX vs. SDC 2300

Check out this new video on Beach hunting that compares the SDC and the ATX. Pretty interesting.....

The published 5.4 lbs without batteries for the SDC 2300 is incorrect. Mine weighed on a postal scale is 5.1 lbs and with four NiMH rechargeable batteries weighs 5.7 lbs.

Thanks Steve,

Do you know if Minelab is aware of the discrepancy? Also I finally had a chance to swing the SDC for myself. I have to agree that it does feel good on the arm. Both detectors are really cool. I just wish I could own both!

For once a detector is listed as weighing more than it really is. Minelab lists the SDC at 5.3 lbs without batteries. Mine weighs 5.1 lbs. on postal scales. I would rather get a pleasant surprise of less weight than surprised by extra weight. Minelab was made aware of it but I doubt it is a huge priority with them. After all, who is going to complain the detector did not weigh as much as they thought it would?

For the record my Minelab SDC 2300 with four NiMH C cells, 8" mono coil and scuff cover weighs 5 lbs 11.5 oz. This is the stock configuration of the SDC.

My Garrett ATX with eight NiMH AA cells, 8" mono coil and scuff cover weighs 6 lbs 8.5 oz. Note this is not the stock coil on the ATX but the optional 8" mono coil and scuff cover available at extra cost.
