Was just setting here thinking what happened to all the ATpro haters

Well the AT is finally out and all the hype seems to be true. What happened to all the it will not go deep no way it will work in the salt it is just a waterproof ace 250 guys.
This is a sweet all new design for Garrett for sure I really like mine a lot. Think it will be a great jewelry hunter come warm weather. Looks like for now I will have to stick to the relics.

I don't remember seeing many haters...especially on this forum. I'm curious to know where all the video reviews are. Everyone said as soon as they get their machine they would post videos and target ID numbers. And so far, I've only seen a handful. Either there aren't as many AT Pros out in field or they aren't living up to the hype. Still trying to figure out which one it is.

Send me a video camera and I will send you some video. Pictures are about the best I can do right now.

Very interested in the At Pro, but mostly for the water hunting, then relic, then everything else. Havent seen enough or any water hunt video's to convince me yet. Have heard alot of positve things about the AT PRO, but, I guess I need more info and results to totally convince me. Dont know about anyone else but $600 is alot of money to me.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't know if they were haters or not but there were a lot of pessimistic posts on here for a while before they started shipping. I really like the reports I have been reading. They are so complete that there will not be much left to be said by the time I get mine :)

There are still a LOT of distributors that never even got ANY the first time around. It seems that the manufacturers cater to the big boys first. I think every distributor should get the same amount. But until those distributors get their shipments only then will the rest of the dealers get their machines. Everyone that wants one don't have one.

I know what you're talking about-the ones that flat-out said it wasn't going to be anything other than a souped up ACE and made all the other declarations from the expert knowledge of a detector that hadn't been released. Maybe they're out hunting with theirs now! Hmmm..

Now as to why there aren't more videos, I would say it would NOT be a logical conclusion to think it's because the AT isn't living up to expectations! From my standpoint, only having a Flip camera, I've filmed several hunts only to find out later that the footage was AWFUL. The detector has done nothing but perform exactly as Garrett said it would on everything I've tried so far!

More and more people are getting their AT's, and we'll all be hearing MUCH more about the detector as time goes by. Hopefully I'll be able to get some video this weekend, although I'm cache hunting and the detector is not the primary tool on this venture. Still, I'll try to get something useable on video!

I have to agree with this. There was much hype concering the AT pro but since they have came out there are hardly any reports that have came in. I was really thinking about buying one but the lack of any videos showing what it can do will make me hold off for now. I have not seen any videos of anyone digging any deeper targets that show how stable the TID is or for that matter how deep it will even hit a target in the ground. Look at the Explorer and Etrac forums there are tons of posts showing what people are finding with them. I know they have been out for a while and there are more of them in use. It would be nice to see more posts with finds and stories from AT Pro users.

I really don't think that there were haters at all .....I for one was tired of hearing all the hype , and hearing comparisons to the $1500 machines when the machine was not even out !!.....Then Garrett and all the folks who had use of the machines in the beginning were saying as much as NOTHING about the machine ..... Nobody was showing REAL hunts, and everyone was posting about AIR TESTS , and other tests that still never showed the AT Pro in action ..... Skeptics ? ....Yes !!!!....Haters ? ....No !!..... I realize that they machine is just out , and it's cold, and Winter is coming fast , but I have still not seen anything that would make me go out and sell any of my machines .... I've seen a lot of footage of what the AT Pro could NOT get ....I've also heard of other machines going much deeper ..... Is the AT Pro a good machine ? ....It's a GREAT machine for what it is ..... I didn't think that it would compare to the higher end machines in the salt , and I stand by that today ..... This does not make it a bad machine at all !!.... I for one , and I will only speak for myself , am glad that the folks who love thier Garretts , have a good machine to enjoy ..... I will also say that it's about as good a machine as I thought it would be ....No better , and no worse ...... Show me some coins coming out of the sand that had to be dug out over a foot down, and I'll be the first to stand and applaud !!..... Until then , I wish all of you that bought and AT Pro all the luck and Happy Hunting !!....Jim

The AT PRO is a GREAT machine for 600.00 bucks but dont expected it to perform like the 2500 for a $ 1000.00.

several videos and at least two VID numbers listings posted on the various forums.
Check the beach forum.

Hehehe.. MIDRANGE detector with above midrange performance and waterproof to 10'. So far it's convinced me that it is what Garrett said it would be. For some it will absolutely beat a high end detector-because high end detectors are usually specialized and either not affordable, or folks can't justify spending too much money on any one TYPE of detecting. In that regard it does have high end detectors beat. Now all we have to do is see if it's field performance matches the Garrett air test videos and catalog description. It was the folks that use other brands that started the notion that 'we' thought it would outperform a high end unit. I'm pretty sure that's all Jason's point was about.

I'll go as far as to say that I had a Minelab Xterra 705 that I LOVED. However, just what I've seen so far with the AT tells me I won't go back to that particular unit! The AT is performing better for me so far. I think others are of the same mind wanting one detector that can do a little of everything. Not necessarily BETTER, but good enough 'open' up a potentially new area of detecting, or just give you a unit that will work when you're on a vacation in some a different location.

I don't think there were necessarily 'haters', just know-it-alls that made us all scratch our heads at their proclamations that the detector won't do what it said it would. I think the problems of electronic communication plague everybody with interpreting what somebody's intentions are. If you're a 'shoot first then yell stop' kinda person (I tend to be) then problems can be compounded. However, I firmly believe there were those doing some 'drive by sniping'. Now it's just time for us all to go detect and remember that we're all in the same hobby!

AMEN!

Pyledriver ,
Just to keep the facts straight , I believe THIS was the thread that told the OTHER BRAND guys what was to come ......Let's keep it real here ...... This didn't come from the OTHER BRAND guys .....This was your own moderator !!

http://www.findmall.com/read.php?43,1304046

Some of us DO spend big $$ on our detectors , and we have some great finds because of it ......We don't have to compare our machines to anybody's machines ....We're happy with what we have ......You guys should be thrilled paying $600 for your detector and be happy with what it does .....We're not the ones doing the comparing .....We already KNOW what we have !!..... What it boils down to is ....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !!....... You love the fact that you only paid $600 for your detector ....That's GREAT !!!......I paid $1500 for my detector , and I'm THRILLED with the performance and don't regret a minute of it ...... We BOTH win !!!......Jim

Do you have any proof of this cause I do not think it is true.

That's what a Garrett distributor told me. They said they were supposed to get them but they never showed up. That's all I know.

Yeah the cash was a luck strike for me also. I made a video today and accidently erased everything in the transfering. I need to alot more with the PRO. I THINK ITS GOING TO BE AROUND A WHILE. I sold a minelab to get mine but there are alot of xs units out there used in cood condition. Keep swinging what you have they all work. I wanted to report water hunting today but the lake was closed.

He has only received one AT Pro so far and he said his distributor told him that quite a few Garrett dealers haven't gotten any machines so far. I was number 2 on his list so I get the next one that he can get. He said his distributor was expecting a shipment any time. I am hoping I will get a tracking number on Monday. I pre-ordered on October 2.

There are a lot of dealers under the distributorships still waiting on machines. Heck, Uncle Willy still doesn't have one in his hands yet....

Garrett should have had a Special Edition AT Pro made for Uncle Willy with all the publicity he spread around for this machine ..... It would be interesting to see just how many people he influenced into buying this machine ...... I think he should have at LEAST gotten one of the first few machines to hit the streets .....Jim
