Warning to all CTX users!

Whining is right..... geez. Everything electronic or mechanical needs maintenance and worn parts replaced. If you can't afford to maintain an expensive house, automobile or metal detector, get something more in your price range. Two years on a battery pack that has been well used seems reasonable to me. I think most rechargeable batteries has a lifespan of just so many charges anyway. You were offered a free battery and you are still not happy.

 :starwars:  Take the free battery !

(I'll take it if you're not going to, as I am sure others here will too !)

I'm not whining, when something on yours breaks or wears out prematurely we will see how "aww shucks it's just the cost of doing business, $149 bucks ain't nothin' to whine about" you are about it. It's no big deal when it's not your problem
My point is the customer service they display. The CTX is awesome, I do not argue that point, as long as it works, but think about it, if a replacement battery is $149 how much is a coil or screen going to be. And no I didn't "spend above my means" but I expect value for my money. Their chargers have a hx of failing, mine did and now premature battery issues, if you can't see that take off you Minelab glasses and look again.

So minelab's customer service sucks because they won't replace your nearly two years old battery. Ok, noted.
Thank you.

Come on, get in!

You have made it clear that you don't agree with me, does it make you feel better to keep posting your smart comments? You disagree, I get it.

WOW!!! What gets me about this so called "community" is the absolute willingness to attack each other and not solve a problem. Instead we cause more amongst ourselves Really??? It is no wonder we are losing parks and sites to hunt left and right since we can not stick together long enough to help each other. That to me is the shame of it all. The issues is not the battery alone the fact is the faulty charger! That they admit was faulty, likely killed the battery. I have a CTX and got mine the day it came out and guess what I had plenty of issues which after some length discussion with minelab they fixed them. To Shayne that was an awesome gesture I :clapping: you for doing what this community should do. Now as for whining all site has become post after post is crying about this or that. It is ok when it some people. Here Bootyhunter tried to give you heads up and maybe get some direction as to what to do outside shelling out another 150 bucks. I am sorry but 10k worth of machines like I have shelled out with minelab. I feel minelab could have at least offered to replace battery at cost or pointed him to and vendor to work it out less then retail. Do not dare tell me they cannot cause they have and they do. You not what else I have yet to see a single " sponsor" step up and say hey PM I can make you a fair deal on a battery. Once again where is the community sense????? Go ahead and blast my post cause that seems to be all this community does anymore WTG guys hats off!!!

He brought the issue to the forum because he thinks he has been treated unfairly. He gave Minelab service some negative posts. He vented and now it is time to move on. Not all of us agree he was treated unfairly. The battery was good for two years. That isn't bad. He took his complaint to Minelab and they drew the line in the sand. Yes it could have gone better for him, but at the end of the day we will all continue to use one of the finest detectors out there. I can honestly say if it happens to me I'm not spendindg the money on a new battery. Powerex 2700's and charger. The charger will work the batteries and recondition them too. Why? Because they work in my Sovereign as well.

Wow Larry, when you replied to my question about the battery in another thread you stated yours did the same thing and they had you a replacement in 3 days?? Were you "whining" to them about your battery as well then? And to be clear I am just NOW at the 2 year ownership mark, battery started acting up in March, so the battery lasted about 18 months, pa f'n thetic for a detector and battery that are so costly no matter what any of you say.

I am cleaning up this mess. I suggest everyone take a deep breath and chill. There is no need for this silly non sense here. You're all grown men, act like it.

Lol Great Advice! Thanks. Yeah there are a few that get what I'm saying, and then there are, well you know......I'm sure I won't get any justice but I do know clearly what to expect from Minelab from here on out, I decided to accept Shayne's generous offer and I pm'ed him, I'm sure I will hear from him soon, there should be more of us like him! Thanks for your reply..
