Vx3

I guess this machine is just too new. No one seems to have one yet.
I looked at the spec's at Whites website and see it has three different
frequencies, 22 khz is the highest. That would make it a decent
gold nugget and coin hunting machine, better than the MXT; am I wrong?

People have them and some have reported in recent weeks on their thoughts using it, all good from what I have read. You might want to go back through past posts. Here is a link comparing features of the V3i and VX3 which you might find useful: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1497249

The MXT still might have a slight advantage in nugget hunting even though the V has a higher operating frequency. The MXT was was designed from the GMT nugget hunter and it has HyperSAT which gives more effective depth in bad ground than normal SAT. I have not seen a comparison of the two units for nugget hunting though.

I have been using the VX3 before it was released to the market,I love it found that using the coin jewelry mode makes great use of the frequencies over just 1 in coin mode, when properly ground balanced it will work flawlwssly, the attached photo is from a 1 and a 1/2 hr hunt this morning before the temps got the better of me this yr in Kansas has been tough.also all finds were made using the 4x6 coil the 2 wheat cents a 1920-s and a 1957-d were at 5 inches and the kansas sales tax token was at 4inches.as for nugget hunting I haven't used mine for that but it is killer on rings tho.

The VX3 is basically a cut back V3I. Most people here have the V3 and see no need to change to a scaled back feature machine. For those that don't have a V3, you have the option of scaled back or full features. Most of the features you wont really use anyway but some like having them in case they might want them later. I wish the VX3 had tone assignment and such but it don't. It does great as a turn on and go machine with basic...very basic...control adjustments. Sensitivity, discrimination, all metal audio, disc audio, mixed mode audio. Those aren't all but the basics.

You will notice a huge difference in the sensitivity to small gold when using the 22.5Khz frequency! It will pick up the smallest jewelry. This tiny 14K pendant was picked up at about 4 inches in Discriminate, and at more than 6.5 in all metal. It was almost invisible to the ML Excalibur and the Etrac!

I have been thinking about the GMT. I had the MXT but it
was old and heavy. Looks like the Vx3 is a bit heavy as well.
When I saw that it had 22khz built in I thought maybe I could still
coin and relic hunt and still have the option of gold nugget hunting as well.

Thats 8 khz more than the MXT but along way from the 50khz of the GMT.

Right now I use my old Ace 250 for coin and relic. It's been a good machine.

The reason you won't see much about the VX3 is because all the hardware and software are the same except for the user interface. That means the features would all be there if you could get to them. It was made for people who wanted a less confusing list of options and menu. Several options they left out I want and use. Many people wouldn't use them. ROB
