VORTEX 7 VS. VORTEX 9

What is the main difference between the Vortex 7 and 9?what is the difference in price? If you plan on not doing any water hunting seems like the Vortex 7 would be the choice ?Would appreciate some feed back :please:

I would just get the VX9. I got a feeling Garrett is going to offer another upgrade option for only the ones who own the VX9. This of course is my opinion thou.

I have a feeling you may be correct @KSDfisher77, I honestly have a feeling Garrett may come out with 2-4 more upgrades with in 3-6 months after the Vortex hits the market for sale just because there are to many people out there making a big deal out of the Lack of settings that the Vortex is coming out with, instead of first seeing how the Vortex will perform at first, the key thing for me with this new Vortex is the Lack of available settings, that's what has pushed me to go ahead and give the VX9 a try is the lack of a bunch of settings, i am one that does not like to mess with a bunch of hidden settings and features in a detector.

@C.J.M. if you look at the specs for each there is quite a bit of difference between each Vortex, mainly in available frequencies that can be ran in single frequency operation as well Multi operation as well as the available search modes and the difference in the Target ID scales and the different amounts of Tier levels, other than what I have mentioned there really is no differences in the three Vortex models

its going to be an interesting detector to give a swing

Yep I think Garrett has got something else up their sleeve. I should just order a vx9. I myself see alot of the Whites V3i in the new Garrett, but in a more user friendly package. I know for 1, once it's in hands of someone like you we will all know what to expect from it.

The VX9 is a no brainer for me because I do not want to have to install a upgrade rite out of the gate, There is only $150 difference in price between the VX5 and the VX9 and only a $65 price difference between the VX7 and VX9, it just was not worth going through the hassle of having to upgrade to the next Level so I just elected to put in my order for the VX9

I will tell you this if it performs well everyone will get that from me but if it performs like crap they will also here that from me, i am not one that will blow smoke up someones butt in hopes of getting something from a manufacture for free, I am loyal to no manufacture

I just hope it performs well on the ground i detect because I have a room full of detectors that will not, and I sure do not need another detector setting here collecting dust I have enough of that type of detector and a few of those are high end expensive detectors, I will know with in a day or two once I run it over my almost three year old test bed, once the Vortex is delivered to me which I am hoping is at least by the end of this month

@KSDfisher77 one of the dealer sponsors here on Finds is who I have placed my order with for a VX9 if you want to know whom that is I can PM you the info of who I went through, I do know that dealer has ordered at least 4 VX9s and I am first on his list to receive my VX9 as I have already paid him for my VX9

Let me know

Thanks. Lol I know your hook-up man. I might quiz him a bit.

Ha, i may know who it is, personal friend of mine
Maybe I should just tell who it is here, my VX9 is already paid for so I am not worried, the rest of you can fight over what the dealer has left as long as I get my VX9 i don't personally care if any of the rest of you get one LOL

No seriously I hope everyone that wants a Vortex can get one and that's the honest truth

I have two top of line units, not getting one as of now
I have several top of the Line detectors, no I do not need another one but I want another one, I am a metal detector Hoarder LOL, in my mind I cannot have to many LOL

Well, I am in a tight spot my grand son wants a At PrO ,however they seem to be over priced.I selling my new X-TERRA PRO its in mint condition.Seems like my grand son does not care for the large coil.So I am thinking maybe the NO 7 Vortex would be all this kid needs. My shoulders are shot otherwise I would not sell it.I only used it twice.I also have been told to buy him the Apex.So at this point I am looking at the AT PRO; APEX; NO.7 VORTEX.
I am having a Cat-San Tuesday and I have a Hurricane "Beryl " heading my way so have to play it by ear .Thank you for your help

Good luck on your CT scan

Yeah if you think about the cost of the ATP and the cost of a VX5-VX9 it makes no since to even look at the AT Pro in my mind at least

The VX5 is cheaper than the ATP and the VX7 is close in price to the ATP, I still have my ATP setting here but I sure would not pay $500 for an ATP today, for me personally the ATP has always been over priced and way over rated, The Apex I have never even held one in my hands so I cannot comment on the Apex, I had considered picking up a Apex at one time and may still, but then the Vortex was announced and so I decided just to wait and pick up a Vortex VX9

Me personally I am always looking at different detectors that I would like to try, so who knows I may end up with a Apex also just to see what they are about, I have heard and read good things about the Apex and heard and read bad things about the Apex but that is pretty much all detectors any more you hear good things and bad things and just do not know what to believe about any of them until you get them in your hands and try them out for yourself

its just like my Troy Shadow X5 that I have only had for a couple of months I read so many things about the X5 that I almost passed on my X5 but I decided to take a chance and I will be honest with you I have seen none of the things that people were saying bad about the X5, I absolutely love my X5 on the ground I detect, sometimes you just have to be willing to take a risk and find out for yourself if people are just talking non since about a detector, my X5 with a 7 inch concentric coil is fantastic on the ground I detect, more so than some of these so called high tech cell phones on a stick detectors, (why I have no clue) I do have my own theories but who knows if my theories are correct, One of the things with this new Vortex that I am liking a lot the more I think about it is the fact the Vortex does not appear to have a ton of confusing settings and confusing features, for me I like that and one of the main reasons I decided to place my order for the VX9, my thinking with this Vortex fits into my theories with the Cell phones on a stick higher tech detectors

None of my Higher Tech cell phones on a stick will out perform my lower tech detectors on the ground I detect, the theory I have is because all those higher tech detectors with all those confusing settings and confusing features hinders those so called higher tech detectors, because of all the filtering going on (Do I know this for a fact) absolutely not, again they are just my Theory

Lol I think you should splurge a bit & just get the Garrett Vortex VX9 for the grandson.

I agree with you, for me it was a no brainer just to not have to upgrade to the next level and then you are prepared for when Garrett brings out an even higher upgrade, I honestly am hoping that by purchasing the VX9 I will not even have to consider getting the next upgrade that Garrett could possibly come out with for the Vortex series LOL but who to heck knows

I honestly see in my mind endless possibilities with this new Vortex, no one actually knows just how far Garrett could possibly take this new Vortex

Yeah I think Garrett vortex will be a decent machine. I'm like you, wonder what the released version will be like.

We all know they are still adding & fixing things in the testers models.

I do think it's funny how people keep giving Garret Vortex a bad rap, when it's not even in those people's hands yets. Dang child's play/ whiners that didn't receive a free Vortex to test.

Yeah I read some of the things people are saying and just shake my head, how can any one judge a book by its cover without having ever even reading one page, it just blows my mind some of the stuff being said LOL
