Very erratic ID

Just did a ground probe of the park i,m trying to hunt am getting mineralisation reading of 93 and percentages ranging from 20-30 percent , im figuring these readings are very much limiting my depth and id accuracy. As a new v3i owner anybody got any suggestions as to what settings might be helpful in gain more stable ids, The surface ones are fine but anything over 2 inches deep is all over the place. Am running the 10 band high pass filter and a gain between 6-8 at 10 or more my machine overloads on the iron in the ground.
Any suggestions welcome . Using the common program and have not mucked around much with offsets.
Regards Trt

Have you made sure you coil is good? Hold it waist high in a Low EMI area and turn up the gain to 15 and see if it overloads?

As burlbark said first make sure you have good equipment.

Do the RX15 coil test. If it tests OK,

Run the detector in clean ground other than the park and see if the coil overloads at RX 10 or above. We need the see the coil is overloading on iron or just overloading.

Give us the results and we will go from there.

The coil is fine , using the 6x4 dd given my location on the edge of the worlds largest high grade iron ore mine i probably think i will just have to put up with mopping up the top couple of inches of goodies. I havent been able to use rx boost at all without overloading the machine. The tones still manage to give a little info on whether deeper targets are worth digging though.
