I usually just read all the posts on here and have yet to actually write something. But this honest discussion of the two detectors has been really helpful.
I am very close to buying my first Tesoro (still quite new to the hobby) and the Outlaw is the one I keep coming back to. I actually would prefer not hitting on staples/BB at my stage of the game.
This particular thread finally helped me get a handle on what the trade-offs were between the HOT and uMax line, and in particular the Vaquero vs Outlaw.
By not going for a Vaquero I'll be losing a bit of depth by not being able to Super Tune and losing sensitivity to smaller sub-coin targets. I also shouldn't hit as well on very small gold since it runs at 14kHz.
However with the Outlaw I'll hopefully dig less small sized trash, and hit harder on coins. Being a 10.6kHz unit it might hit better on Canadian clad as well and I have this dream of finding old nickles for some reason . I like that it has a higher audio tone (630Hz) and a true No-Motion All Metal.
Thanks
