V3I on the beach

I would be interested in hearing from users that primarily hunt the beaches. Any input would be great to read. I'm still in the testing, tweaking stage but have had
some decent finds and the V3I is my go-to machine when possible. Thanks Jim

I use my VX3 at the beach all the time with no problems at all. I use the 950 coil as it is quieter than the 10DD In the wet sand I use the salt beach program with factory settings 5hz band filter. Sensitivity may have to be adjusted slightly but that's about it. Dry sand is about like regular soil I use either C&J or HI-PRO and usually adjust sens. upwards. piece of cake. Just make sure you ground balance often because things change often going from wet to dry then back. In fact it's best to hunt parallel to the surf line. HH

All the advice is good. The tracking was changed on the V3i to compensate for the change from wet to dry sand.

Thanks Thound...I just started using the 3vi for the beach and have been playing around with different settings. I just can't seem to get the depth that others talked about. I will get out as soon as this wind (50MPH gusts) die down and will play around with different settings for different programs. I'm using the stock 10 inch DD but will try the 5 inch to keep the thing quiet. Again, thanks. Jim

Here in Maine it was gusting 50 mph......not a good time to detect. Also I use only the 950 coil for the Beach.

As Thound has said, the 9.5 or 12" are the coils of choice at the beach. I could run them both at RX15 with NO problem or falsing.
