v3 vs. SE etc.

I was able to borrow a whites V3 and did a little detecting. I tried it out for about 30mins...just

able to know what I was doing. I thought...these are nice colors and bells and whistles but just

about the average well built detector. Maybe or maybe not as good as my xlt or minelab SE & others.

After I got the hang of the analyzation and features(thanks to whites videos)I was pleasantly

suprised! What a little bit of learning makes. As a matter of fact...I was amazed! Argueably, a deep detector but thats not the key

point. Its the analyzation! I detected about 200 good signals...I analyzed every one and then dug

it up. It was accurate about 98 percent of the time. I got fooled on a very old bottle cap and

part of old metal can but the rest of the signals...I KNEW what it was in the ground before I dug it up. Im

talking foil, bottle caps, pull tabs, rings, coins(even the difference between zinc pennies and

copper ones). That is the amazing part and will save me alot of digging. I really do like the

minelab SE but the V3 is far better by telling me whats in the ground. I actually was smiling and

laughing, having fun because this was amazing technology. The learning curve is also far less than

minelab and gives you more info. There are 3 different ways to analyze your target and by doing them

one at a time...it gives you specific clues to what your target is.

Whites is... the absolute best for customer service in the industry and with this detector...I think

they have the best all around dectector made! It is unbeliveable. Processor is super fast with

nice graphics and lots of options...if you require them. I dont think I will keep my other

detectors after trying the V3. Its that good.

I walked out with 4 rings, 1 pendant, 1 charm and 35 coins that I didnt think existed as I have been

over this lot about 20 times with different detectors and I thought I would give up on this

location, as there would be very little left. I was wrong and very happy to be so.

I would happy to hear of any other views on this subject. Agree or disagree.

I'm glad you like your V3.....I sold my SE Pro for the same reasons.

I am digging deep stuff in places that have been pounded but I hunt relics not coins. I have been using the high pro mode but curious what you coin hunters are using. Last weekend I also used an all metal program that rocks.

These modes are great for relics in light trashy sites but too noisy for dense trash so how about a quiet deep program for coins?

I have had some issues with EMI due to the few sites left near power lines. I am wondering if it is the stock DD coil giving me problems that are natural to that coil or whether I have a coil going bad. My 950 was smooth but I was in a different site later. So hard to use different coils when you walk a mile back in the woods and having issues. I am going to get my backpack out and carry spare coils with me to try in heavy iron sites and EMI areas next time.

I am selling most of my other machines for two reasons. First the V3 will equal or beat them all for depth and I love the ergonomics of White's vs Minelab. White's has been fantastic on customer service not even questioning replacing coils and even my first Vision.

No other company can even come close to customer service and not to mention the two year transferable warranty that is good if you decide to sell and great for the buyer of a used machine. You can't go wrong.

jt,

have you tried the freq offset...that might help.

I would call whites about the coil ,as you know, they are always helpful.

I think I like the minelab looks better but....when it comes down to it....looks doesnt matter so v3 is the one.

Nice affirmation of the technology, I have yet to dig every target to build confidence as you have. But I did spend some time over the weekend focusing on Nickels, at first wasn't finding many, then figured out in the ground I"m hunting a solid 19 VDI, is the number that worked. Dug 6 nickels in ground I had hit previously with a different detector. It was fun all over again, and gives me the confidence I need to go pound those pounded out sites. The V3 is just plain fun.

Sounds like it would be fun to hunt some of your "hunted out sites" On the other hand I have quite a few I would enjoy turning loose a few Vision Pros in and see how full their pouches were at the end of the day:rofl:

I too like mine the more I use it the better I do like it. Still have other detectors but my Etrac is now gone.
The V3 if learned will just let you have so many options and ways to adjust to what you need that other detectors
will not let you do. Taken a little time and work but I have found a way to hunt about any where I want and get good
results with the V3. Even around the electric cattle fences that I thought I would never be able to use my V3 around
after my first attempt with it. The all metal program solved that problem. Great detector Whites has made a fine machine.
