v3/v3i

Doesnt seem logical, what can be so different with UK that it needs a special software.

And if so people would want that in US too.

I wish for a software update myself but the only thing i want more adjustments on is tones. I would like to have the option to chose several types of VCO in disc channel.

And i really hope whites work on updates all the time as this detector opens up that possibility to everyones advantage. Both Whites and customers.

I'm in the UK and have had a V3/i for just over 18 months and I have found it to be very good when it is set up right for our conditions and targets - however, that has been down to us to sort out for ourselves since launch! Let's be honest and say that the UK Factory - though they do their very best - do not have the immediate access to the info the guys in the US have and neither do they have the amount of practical experience of using the V3(i). It is not helped by the fact that there is no where near the number of users over here, so we don't have the "community" either (that's why we come here!!).

As far as I am concerned, if Whites can formulate a set of programmes for use in the UK/Europe, I'd certainly take a look - in fact I sent them MY PROGRAMS about a year ago and I believe that they have been sending them to other UK users (with my agreement). The UK factory does have a couple of setups of their own that they have developed, but they are very similar to those we developed on our own.

What I would like, however, is a set of ICONS that reflect our likely tagets. I know I don't have to use them, but some of them are useful (nails, big iron etc) but we don't need $1, 10c etc ... if they can put together a set that include "Hammered silver", "Roman Bronze", "Milled Bronze" etc, that would be useful (but this is difficult because of the wide range of VDIs each of these targets can return). Again, I'd look at these - but not if it is going to have (another) cost attached. It would be good if UK/Europe settings could be developed so that when the next full Spectra software upgrade is ready, this is part of it.

Anyone else in UK/Europe have a view?

As far as the icons, I never use them. Why don't you just set up your own just using TEXT. Bronze, hammered whatever works. As far as UK programs just use your own. Who would know better than you. Most of the guys I know don't use Whites factory programs anyway.

As you are aware I am in Norway.

For the most part I dont use Icons and if i use any it is the kind you may call universal, Or you can make your own text as icons like on the MXT text icons but only limited to your fantasy.

If you use no Icons for the less interesting ID s and have a rather large icon on those you most likely think is good you get a very visble visual reminder when the icon pops up. A golden pirate casket or a big blue dollar.

Especially good when you work a relic program with a single tone.

I replace the icons with custom text entries that call attention to conditional situations such as wrap, depth, and crosschecking scenarios. It's a tool that is fully customizable. Why not use it?

This post has drifted sooooooooo far from the original post. Lets start a new one.
