V3 on the beach

I am not having much luck with my V3 on the beach, dry or wet sand. Should I be thinking about getting a water detector. Any help advice would be appreciated.

Need more info.. Salt water beach? What program , what coil. The V works very well in Wet and dry sand in the salt water here in jersey.

Got to be a target for you to find one! The V3 works well from the waters edge to the dry. The coil will work in water also.

I hit a salt beach last week. Only a few targets in the dry. Need some sand movement;-)

In the wet at low tide I had two small targets about 6 inch deep. Turned out to be just the TAIL from old style pop tops. I felt like that was a good sign. I don't see too many small beaver tails in the wet salt beach.

Good Luck
Jerry

I am located in Fort Myers Florida, I am using the V 950 coil. I am just getting used to my V3 and wanted some encouragement.

Thank you all.

A beautiful part of Florida. My guess is you have a lot of competition on the beaches. If you read the Beach and Water Forum, some of those guys are out there before the the sun comes up, and some of them are night hunters too. A water detector is nice if you want to hunt in the water, more jewelry is lost there than on shore, but again, that's tough hunting and you will have competition there too.

Don't get discouraged though, you have to tough it out and dig everything to find the good stuff. No place is ever worked out, just deminishing returns and keep an eye on IDA in the gulf, she is sure to stir up the beach and increase your odds somewhat.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I Will definitely stick with it as I enjoy the thrill of this hobby. The beach is my favorite place to hunt, as it is much easier to did in the sand than in the dirt.

George is using the V3 on the Florida beaches and is doing great. I know he uses the 9.5 on the beach. He lives in The Villages. Rob

I have been using mine on Galveston beach and in the area.
I am not a "Experienced" Beach hunter at all, I am from Indiana and am working in Texas.
I am AMAZED at how well this machine works.
I preferre the 5.3 eclipse in the sand and as far as I am concerned is a perfect match for the V3.

I am running the stock Salt Beach program and turning the RX gain down to about 4.

Just my experience

Tater and I use our V3s regularly on the beaches here in California - had a great trip last weekend which produced some silvers. The V3 performed wonderfully on wet and dry sand. This was the first time taking our new V3s out to the beach (they had been replaced by White's after several months of frustrating detecting) and we were very pleased with the results. I used the D2 10" coil and it worked just fine. Good luck and have fun!
