V rated 8x6???

Hi, I just talked to Raul at KellyCo and he told me all SEF coils for the Whites are now V rated, does that sound right to anyone else? I hope he knows what he is talking about because I just ordered one. Thanks for the help everyone.

My answer is NO. If JW knows any better he can post. The last time he posted, he works for Kellyco, his answer was NO.

I understand what you are saying Rob, but its hard to not believe its not when I talked to Kellyco (Raul). I'll just have to live with it if its not.

We will just have to wait and see how the 6X8 works. Another unknown is what does Kellyco consider V rated, or more descriptive, V compatible?

I also asked if it had a V stamp on one of the ears, his answer was that no it doesn't, and the reason he said so was that the V stamp is Whites doing or trademark. Thanks again for the help on this site. I get on here just about everyday just to see what I can learn. Its a great forum.

It will work and is compatible. It runs a higher signal percent and all the VDI will be not be accurate. On 2.5 and 7.5 kHz it works as it should. The 22.5kHz is the problem.

From what I have seen on the overseas websites, the manufacturer is making new "designed for" Vision SEF coils in white plastic to differentiate them from the black plastic that "works with" Vision but has the numbers skewed. Post when you receive yours and air test to see if the depth readings are accurate.

JW had informed us the only difference was the color and that was due to a perceived temperature issue.

I just got off the phone with Kellyco because I wanted to order the 6x8 and 10x12 SEF coils for the V3i. They told me that the current SEF coils are NOT V-rated but they should be getting V-rated SEF coils in stock within the next couple of weeks. They said all SEF coils sold up to this point were/are not V-rated but as of the "new shipment" arriving in a couple of weeks, they will be. I don't mean to add fuel to any fires here, I am just sharing what I was told after speaking with them today. HH -Marc

I got my 8" X 6" SEF today and I did a test on the VDI of a nickle in Three frequency Best data mode and the VDI number stayed the same. It reads 19.
in 2.5 it reads 17
in 7.5 it reads 19
in 22.5 it reads 22
This is done as an air test only

Mine it depends which Program your using and in Correlate it reads vdi 39-43 on a Nickle.

I haven't hunted in Correlate. I always hunt in C & J, I always use 3 frequency best data. All I was hoping for when I got this coil was that the VDI numbers read the same on a nickle. As far as I know the VDI's read the same on all coins. Also I use Magic's program.

My 8x6 vdis are good in 3FBest Data also. Correlate raises the numbers up a bit especially Nickles because of the 22.5 Frequency. If I try to run 22.5 single frequency I have to back my Rx Gain down quite a bit. Was out today with the 8x6 at an old foundation and found my first Barber Dime 1901, Indian Head 1897 and 2 Wheaties, not sure of there dates yet.You can get some pretty good depth with the 8x6 but my coins today were shallow, the Barber was on top of the ground under some leaves could'nt believe it and the others were no more than 3 inches deep. I also have a 5" Excellerator I want to try over there at the foundation. Hey, Good luck with your new coil and take care.
