Used XL Pro came today.

I put the 5.3 on today and there is a big difference.
Especially when it comes to pinpointing. found two more pennies and a couple of "S" links about 2' long.Much easier to pick out targets. I would definitely call my yard a trash site. Every pass I make gives me a hit and sometime two or three. Nine times out of a ten it's a nail. They are not coin sounds but chirps, so I know it isn't a coin. Some of those chirps are long enough to make me think it might be a coin. My mind wants it to be a coin and sometimes I dig it and the detector is right almost all the time. After I dig it and it's a nail-It's as if the detector says "see,I tried to tell you it was a nail-dummy."
I think I have it set pretty well and just before I came in I had three more hits but will dig them tomorrow.
I am pretty sure they are coins.
I'm beginning to get the hang of it.
We will see if I'm right tomorrow.
Thanks for all the great advice.

OK-I'm a little proud right now.
I said I would dig the three hits today and the first two were wheaties 1948,1956 the third was an old rival food dog tag.
then I found a few more coins but I am getting better, much better.
thanks for all the advice
david

You can PinPoint as well as if your using the 5.3.

Congrats on the detector,,,,Now lets get serious. Starting off with the 5.3 coil,,,dig every hit. Search your whole yard in a parallel pattern. Then after digging up EVERYTHING.search the yard again DIAGONALLY. Then jump up to the next size coil and search again in the same fashion working your way up to your largest coil. Each coil is searching deeper and by using the small coil first, you are getting rid of most of the trash. By the time you finish with your largest coil.,,,,,, you could say that you have cleaned your yard of trash and treasures (even though i still think that more stuff is hiding):detecting:
