:usaflag:Took a half a day off from work and took advantage of the nice weather. Got permission from the owner of an old church, who converted it to a dance/yoga studio, to coin-hunt in the yard. The usual junk...pull tabs etc. Found a Gerber baby spoon. On the back it says Winthrop Silver Plated..should look better once it's cleaned up. 59 cents in clad..woo-hoo!! And some other not-so-usual finds.

And I bet I got some hearts racing when you saw that Morgan Dollar in the picture. Actually that's the Morgan I bought from a lady in California..it came in the mail today..ain't she a beauty? It came out of a belt buckle where it had resided for 100 years. The woman inherited the belt/buckle and had no use for it. Took the coin out and put in on E Bay. It's a keeper.

Mcdave look like you had a good time and the Morgan is very nice.HH

Yeah I've got a belt buckle with a Morgan in it that I found years back and I wear it often. The buckle is made of nickel silver.

What mode were you hunting in? The ACE is weird, some pull tabs it will discriminate and some it won't. I guess no matter what type of machine you have you are going to dig junk. I know you sounded kind of frustrated the other day with your machine, I was just wondering if you had changed your settings. NICE DOLLAR!!

Thats a fine looking Morgan. Hope you got a deal on it. Thse ACE-250`s do like the pull tabs and bottle caps, I know.

:usaflag:I almost always hunt in custom mode with the first two iron targets notched out. Sensitivity at 50% And I will dig up anything that comes in just under a nickel and beyond. Digging pull-tabs is just the nature of the beast. I figure I get an actual nickel for every 50 pull-tabs I dig up. And I have only found two earrings and one necklace so far..no rings. I wonder (a lot) if I am missing them somehow. And a lot of nails and tacks will chime-in as a coin, but they are always deeper in the ground...6+ inches. I think it's that "halo effect" thing where the nail is rotting and spreads the signal out. And that happens a lot..more than anyone would like. I love the Ace..but I think maybe a GTI is in the not-too-distant future. I would like something that can be more aware of whats actually in the ground.

:usaflag:I think I got a good deal. I paid $23 for it, and after grading it with my coin book I figure it's worth about $30 to $35. Not an astounding profit but I'm not planning on selling it anyways.

Nice hunt!:detecting:Great pics!:clapping:Thanks for sharing!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

The worst kind are the old big ring type. Fortunately after many years they are getting weeded out. Trouble is you got to dig some tabs to get rings.
