Man was it great getting out in the water again without freezing!!

The water temp is 39degrees F., the air temp 52F with a breeze out of the west gusting at times to over 20MPH.

Water calm, tide low and I left work for 4+ hours of hunting.

As I have mentioned in other posts, the digging is hard because of the stony bottom and I don't mind telling you Friends after 4+ hours of digging I'm one tired old-timer!

The left hand glove of the new pair I got in yesterday's mail leaks!

After a couple of hours my left hand was soaked and getting cold.

In spite of all that I managed to dig up 63 targets and only lost one in the process.

It may have disintegrated as sometimes happens.

The Dual Field does a great job, but the stones make pin-pointing difficult with its large coil especially when the target is very small.

There are 8-nickles (One old buffalo), 8-dimes (one silver!), 6-pennies, 2-zinc blobs, 1-.22Cal. bullet, and 29 misc. pieces of can slaw, nails, wire etc., a junk ring and another small piece of junk jewelry.

These shots will give you an idea of the size of my sifter.

There is also a brass 1942 tag that I think may be a dog license.

Now these will not have to be dug up next time around.

All in all a good hunt!

Congrats on the older coins and getting out. I looked up "Old Lyme" today. You never know, the next scoop could yield a 300 year old coin! HH!

When I find these old items in the water I know there are other old targets there too.

This area has been in continous seasonal use for at least a couple of hundred years.

Last year I found a class ring from 1900 and a few years back a large man's 18K wedding band with 1887 inscribed in it.

There are other hunters working these waters, but so far the targets keep comming.

It will be interesting to see what this up-comming storm will do to expose the goodies.
