:usaflag:My first mini-cache ! !

:usaflag:I went to a very promising lot that is being sold, which is next to the Assisted Living Facility where I work. I knew the guy who was selling it so I went and asked first (of course). He said "Yeah sure..no problem..but you won't find nothin' there" Anyhow..after about two hours or so I came out with $2.19 in clad..a dart tip..and a peace sign earring. The best of the day though was when I got a solid dollar reading and dug down about three inches, and there was a stack of four quarters laying there. I set those to the left in the picture..a '65, two '67's and an '85, which indicates that they were'nt there too long. Still a great thrill anyways...does that qualify as a mini-cache or what? :super: I have to add that this place is Sniper coil heaven...lots of foil and old beer cans..but I'm positive there are still tons of coins to be found, and I've barely scratched the surface. Really looking forward to buying that Sniper now..

I'd say it's not a cache but a coin spill. I've been doing this for awhile and found hundreds of coin spills. I found one Thursday that was 9 quarters and one dime. As the quarters came out of that hole I thought for sure I'd found my first roll of quarters. You'll find many, many, more spills as you advance. Nice digs!

:usaflag:Yeah..maybe. But I'm guessing that some kid buried them and forgot about them. I found a few old tree forts in there. And they were'nt "spilled" in the hole, but neatly stacked and not a speck of dirt in between them. I gotta start bringing my camera to capture the moment. Maybe calling it a cache was a bit of a stretch.

Seriously, I've found hundreds of stacks of quarters. I'll still bet they were lost. I found a stack of four quarters today sitting right on top of the grass. Easy to see how they might end up buried together. Found two stacks of quarters yesterday. If you look at some of my photos you'll see the evidence of them having been buried in the ground touching each other. It's very common. Trust me here. It's still exciting for me to find four in one hole. Nice find.

:usaflag:Just gimme your address..you'll get it in a couple of days. I tried playing golf once..but I'm Irish and all I end up doing is throwing my back out trying to kill the ball.:stretcher:

Aint it a kick in the head to find this sort of stuff? The rest of the world walks on by, oblivious to the things beneath - "You aint gonna find nothin'", their usual comment.

And then you haul those things out.

Like I said, a kick in the head.

Years ago I found a full roll of silver quarters buried under a flattened out beer can. The can was full of probe holes but no one before me had presence of mind to dig it up and find what was beneath it. I stiil have a pic of that roll somewhere. The biggest coin spill of quarters I ever found was ten quarters. My old hunting buddy was the lucky one. We were hunting a sand volley ball court and right where the server stood my buddy pulled up nearly $7.00 in coins in one pile. Was a strange but happy find.

Nice Golf Ball,
I picked one up this spring already too...Nice spill tho..
Me the best spill to date two clad dimes (Newbie this spring)......Better than no dimes.
It's fun out there hunting, being outside Finding Jack Pots....

I have also found many coin spills where the coins were stacked without any dirt between them. Trust us bud you will find more of them. It's still a thrill to find a spill though. Good for you. I love to read your posts as I can clearly see you are having lots of fun and that's what it is all about. HH:garrett:My best was a whole roll of Susan B. Anthony's that I found about an inch down at the base of a tree in a local park. The roll still had some of the paper wrapper on it, 40 dollar coins stacked and lying horizontal in the ground!:garrett:

Brother, I definitely need to get out detecting more often! How cool is a roll of dollar coins?!

:usaflag:Thanks. Yes I enjoy MDing very much. I'm going to start bringing my camera along so I can take pic's of the real interesting finds. As long as you guys like looking at them..I'll keep posting. Although I better start working on my terminology, ie: Coin spill vs. cache. I can still feel the sting from that slap on the hand I received.

I found about 48 cents in pennies and dimes about 3 weeks ago... all in about a 1 foot radius

That happened to me yesterday. I uncovered about a dozen cents and two dimes in a 3x3' area.
This is one of the cool things about detectin' - neat stuff crops up!
