:usaflag:I never thought I'd say it..but I have a small complaint regarding the newest Garrett headphones. Don't get me wrong.. I love having the volume control...but that little sucker gets caught on everything..especially when you bend over to investigate a target. And more than half the time when it gets caught it messes up your volume setting. Still a nice asset..but slightly to moderately irritating.

:usaflag:On a completely different subject..How many of you folks are able to probe your coins out as opposed to cutting a plug? We are severely short on rain right now, and I either need to quit digging the city spots until we get moisture or find a more efficient way and not kill the grass. Don't want to wear out my welcome ya see...and any pointers would be great.:super:

I have the same bitch about the headphones. Why they just coiled part of the cord and left the rest straight is beyond me as ittangles up and catches on everything. They must be made in China and the Chinese are dumb like that.

I never cut a plug or dig ugly holes. I use a two foot long Phillips screwdriver with the tip ground to round as a probe and a large screwdriver to pop the coin out of the ground. I have a rough sketch of this procedure that I have posted several times so I'll stick it up again if I can find it.

To execute this procedure probe and locate the coin then leave the probe stuck in the ground. Take your screwdriver and slide the tip down past the edge of the coin about an inch. Then pull the probe out and lay the handle under te screwdriver shaft to act as a fulcrum, then push down on the screwdriver handle in the direction shown and out pops the coin. The ground usually opens up like a clam with this procedure and all you have to do after recovering the target is step on the dirt hard and it returns to original position. This takes a bit of practice so don't plan on mastering it the first time.

:usaflag:Does'nt sound too complicated...looking forward to trying that. So how do you know it's a coin and not something else..like a rock? I suppose everything has it's own distinct sound or feeling when you hit it....Thanks..much appreciated.:bouncy:

On the ACE & Scorp you can pinpoint the shallower coins off the toe. The, just insert that slot screwdriver, find (probe) the coin and pop it out as quick as possible and move on to the next signal.

A coin has a certain feeling and sound. If it's a bottle cap just push on the probe and it will go right through it. Rings laying flat are the hardest as the probe keeps going through the ring so one has to probe gently to see if it's a ring laying flat. Usually if I can't feel it I just stick the screwdriver into the ground and pop up whatever is there and many times it's a ring.

Bill.

Ever since I had purchased my cheap $25.00 Garrett Headphones, I have always used them. They help the battery from draining when it did before I got them. I had to change batteries every 2 months, now only every 4.

Go to Radio Shack and buy the 33-1253 wireless headphones. Also buy a 1/4 x 1/8 jack adapter too. This will solve your problem. I guaranty that it works 100% with absolutely no lag in signals. Buy the 2 year replacement warranty for the 10 bucks.

:usaflag:Sounds cool...but expensive. I'll definately check it out when my current headphones finally bite the dust from use and abuse...thanks.
