:usaflag:I went to leave my house to walk to the post office a moment ago and there was a package (left by UPS) between the two doors. A brand new Pro-pointer !!! Instead of trying to fix mine, which I would have been perfectly happy with, they just sent me a new one !! And get this...I mailed out my broken one late on the afternoon of June 23rd....9 days.. Amazing...I can't say enough. In the note I sent with it, I even told them "it was mostly my fault it broke and that I would be happy to pay for the repairs." Now that is the best warranty I've ever had on any product...hands down. Thank you Garrett!!!!

Recently I bought a 1998 model GTI 2500, but before I committed I called Garrett and ask two questions:

1. What are the differences in the 98 version and the 2010?

Ans: A program change to tolerate more soil mineralization for Australian customers otherwise its the same detector.

2. What if the electronics or coil is bad, what would be the cost to repair?

Ans: We give a 40% discount to any repair to our machines, before shipping cost is $80 in both cases, so max repair cost $160 for parts + two way shipping

The detector works fine and fortunately I didn't need to send it to them. I can tell you that this makes me a whole lot more comfortable buying a Garrett products new or used. So much so I have a Sea Hunter Mark II on the way.

I intend to send the unit in for a health check when I go on a business trip in late August

Now for the other side of the coin: I purchased my GTI 2500 from Kellyko and had it shipped to Ecuador, SouthAmerica. It came defective and took me two and a half years to realize it. Now the warranty expired, but the worst part is that for international buyers we have to ship the unit to Germany (Garrett's policy, announced in their site). It is not a joke, it is a RIPP-OFF. I wouldnt even recommend this brand to my enemies.

:usaflag:And why did it take 2-1/2 years to realize it? At least now we know it was'nt Garretts fault.

i have only owned 2 detectors. one a fisher one a garret . was so happy with the garret right out of the box .but have not a bad word to say about fisher.:garrett::usaflag:
