:usaflag:For anybody who collects silver coins/jewelry. Silver is almost $20/Ounce

$19.90/Ounce to be exact.

Yes I think that $50 an ounce figure was back when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the world silver market in the 70's. Came close but went broke in the end. After that it was back to about $6 something and has slowly crept back up. Recently heard a "money guru" recommend holding on to silver as he expects only good things in the future.

They didn't go broke but the government finally busted them. They bought up something like 19 million ounces and drove the price up to fifty bucks an ounce, unloaded part of their hoard and made a fortune while keeping some for a rainy day. They made out like bandits.

:usaflag:I read up on those guys....it was actually 200 million ounces....roughly half of the country's silver supply....unbelievable...talk about brass balls.

Probably was in the final tally. The last time I read about their escapades they had bought up nearly 20 million ounces. I remember going to some of the coin stores here and people were lined up for a block selling everything they had made of silver. I watched tons of old, beautiful, silver coins being turned in knowing they would most likely be melted down. Watched one guy dump a whole bag of Walking Liberty Halves on the counter. About broke my heart.
