:usaflag:I can understand being trapped in the house due to bad weather or winter or whatever, but I never thought I would have to pass on perfect coinhunting days because of mosquitoes. They are thicker than molasses right now. You can't even weed the garden without passing out from blood loss.

What is everyone here using to combat the little bloodsucking bastards? I'm about to start wishing for a hard frost to take care of this massacre.

ive tried avon skin so soft diluted with water in a spray bottle . it seems to do the job . mosquitoes are really bad here on the coast of nc , it seems they are worse after midday on into the night . give it a try , good luck ...

Yeah, this year is the worst ever. It's enough to make a guy go nuts. Trying to detect while doing the constant mosquito dance is funny to watch...ask my neighbours, the see me do it a lot! The bug spray (30% deet) helps, but I'm getting a rash from too much of it lol.

Off Deep Woods. I tried that Avon Skin so Soft and it seems to work ok but I hate walking around smelling like a funeral. Nasty smelling stuff. The Off seems to work well.

It's drying up in my area due to an 8 inch rain deficit, but the mosquitoes don't seem to have taken the hint. They're about the size of hummingbirds or at least, it seems that way. Mosquitoes early and late in the day and gnats and hot temps in between. They ran me off a good target about a year ago and when I went back, a construction crew had covered the area with concrete. If you go into the woods they are twice or three times as bad due to standing water in holes and stuff. Hopefully this fall my neighbors will do a controlled burn on their property at the same time I do one on my little place and that will put the boogers out of business in the woods for awhile. I found this hole on my property that's about 5' wide and 3' deep and I want to check it out, but the mosquitoes won't let me and I don't like using insect repellents. It's probably nothing, but it interests me.

Here it is not only the blood sucking little bastards, but flies! Ok, so I guess they don't bite, but they land on your face and buzz into your ears, they are all over outside and getting into the houses. I have never seen them like this! Usually we get them very late winter or very early spring, when there is still snow but a very warm day and that wakes up all the cluster flies. We also get them in the fall when the weather is cooling down and they are looking for a warm place. But never have I seen so many and they came in April and have only multiplied! We can't enjoy sitting out on our deck, we go running inside because the little !@#$%^&* drive us crazy!:veryangry:

If you go into the sporting goods section of walmart, they are selling the 100% deet stuff again, now that they re-legalized it. Nothing better.

Well Dave, down here in Texas I use 7.62x39.....I swear they have landin' lights on em'....there gettin' that big!
