US Gold Buyers friggin nightmare.......

I was lead to believe that the payout was greater, boy was I wrong! BIG MISTEAK, HUGE! Hope I get it all back!

My sincerest apologies mates, sometimes my manners are in need of adjustment, forgive me if I offended any of you.

Amen brother, I have no reservations about Midwest, they have always been square on my payouts, except they sit on the loot too long sometimes and wait till values drop in their favor. It is one of the tricks of trade, savvy? Also, I am convinced that the assay will be in your favor, sending in separate karat batches. You send in a mix, expect to get a diluted assay, savvy? As soon as the 10K and unmarked batch comes back from US Goldbuyers and I carefully inventory it to make SURE it is all there, it will be taking a journey to Midwest, as I am working on 2 more Credit Suisse gold bars. When that batch is settled, then the 14K will go in. We'll see.

Hope you keep us updated on the results with midwest GH would be interested to hear what the difference comes out to. Dan

I had small prob with Midwest....they settled at a very low amount ($850) when Gold while there at their shop never went below $915. So when I called them they we nice and said there was a mistake in settlement and credited me a rate of $930. and sent me another check. Maybe it was because I was a Midwest newbie, or just a real mistake, but my belief is that they are still better than most others. So i guess your trial and error with others was tough but seems Midwest is the way to go until we find someone even better.

Good post, we needed to know.

Well I like that one... THIS WILL NOT LOOK GOOD ON A RESUME!

I can see Robin Williams now. LoL

Thanks GulfHunter!
By golly it's great that all of us can count on you to be aggressive and dive into the melee with your saber swinging!
Looks dangerous, you go first!

The spot market is a tricky business. Especially any time when it is near a historic peak.
If you can find a refiner with integrity, it's a boon, for sure.
I will use the folks at midwest when the need arises.

Pawn shop here declared $9 a gram for Au. No interest in Ag.

Alan, your quote, above, REALLY concerns me. I am - and have been - planning to send my silver and gold (that I can spare) into Midwest Refineries, but what's the deal with this major discrepancy??? I am highly suspicious of such a "mistake." Multiply YOUR "mistake" times all the other hundreds/thousands of people sending them their loot and an "error" here and there sure as hell ADDS UP! It sounds like they don't expect most people, mostly newbies at the refinery process, from questioning them. It sounds like they count on the law of averages, which means that MOST people they chose to "mess with" (I'm being kind here, since I'm on a forum) won't "call them on it." But those who do have the "nuggets" to question a low payout will get a "gee, I'm sorry... our mistake... here's a check to make up the difference." Is that right, that they had to send you an EXTRA $930? Wow! That is some "mistake." I am sorry... but that is very suspicious to me.

I KNOW that Midwest Refineries is supposedly the best - and I intend to personally check them out - but this makes me very concerned.

Buyer (and seller) beware!

HH!

Stacey, he was saying the difference between the payout amounts, not a $930 shortage. They are settling 100s of orders right now and I am sure mistakes do happen. I think they do sit on some settlements, to take advantage of a dip in the market. Midwest is the most reputable that I've seen to date. I personally intend to use them on my '07 batch of gold. No worries though, it just gets sent in for the bars, savvy?

Resume is right, over 600 views, that's some mighty bad press. The moral of the story is, don't mess with GH 'er yer lobble to get bruised, savvy?

I like to come here to see loot and have my lust for loot fueled...not really to here about how negative the world can be...sorry just my thoughts.

BEACH HUNTER, I think this is the appropriate forum, especially since it happened to Gulf Hunter and considering that we all primarily hunt the beaches and therefore probably find more in the way of gold and silver jewelry than those on the other forums who look for relics and coins, etc. Had this been posted in another forum it's likely many of us wouldn't have seen it. Now, go and get your lust for gold refueled and get out there and find some only don't send it to US Gold Buyers. Happy Hunting.

I scrap the broken stuff with a local guy that pays 90%+ or does even better if I trade!! I wish more of you guys would go the private sale way!! in little time you make conections and have no problem getting double the melt value!! then you can buy BARS if thats to your liking:thumbup:

You're very lucky to have those resources. I've never found anyone here who would do that. Of course, I've never tried to sell any real quality items to the public because my wife is too quick if it's ladies jewelry and the high dollar stuff usually is. But I'll give you a for instance. My wife is having two solitaire diamond mounted in a custom designed setting. I gave her some gold to take to the jeweler and they agreed to use it but will only allow about half of what Midwest would pay me for it. And this is a very reputable jeweler.

craigs list being local you will find people who are interested in buying all you got to offer in your area.....2x melt is still below what people pay wholesale for jewelery... you should give it a try........ Good luck+HH!!
