US 1845 large cent off center date worth restoration?

Mark kus

Well-known member
The details on this coin are great I found it in a lake by me and it has an offset date which is not very common.
Has anyone ever had a coin restored?
Here are some photos of the coin.
Thanks
Mark

How is it possible for a coin to have the date in the wrong place when it is engraved on a die ?
Unless the date was stamped after the coin was struck ?
Mark that coin is toast like most coppers the only original surface is around the stars and date all the patina on the stars and date has flaked off .
You real can't restore what's not there at least you know what it is I have only found 2 one is toasted worse than yours and the other is beautiful with no corrosion they are rare in the midwest were I live .
That's one every 27 years . sube
