Update on videos

Thanks for doing the test Gary and Tony

I also got out today went to a church that is not there anymore just the cemetery 100 yards behind where it stood .So I started to do some mode comparisons I would run in high trash find a repeatable signal and switch to combine I dug about 20 good signals mostly nails and round iron pieces when I went into combine and sweep the targets it would like tony said be a little scratchy not quite good .

Then I found another signal in high trash and check it in combine the signal repeated both ways a good signal so I went back to high trash and sweep the target again this time listening very carefully sounded real good in all directions the cursor was almost locked on at 18.40 then back to combine ferrous coin could not get the cursor to lock on in one spot it would come and go but sounded real good .So I started to sweep the target again good sound both ways so I added disc to the 31 line to 35 now that target was really clear hardly any grunting with the target if I stay right on the target and wiggle in that spot it was all high tone if I sweep the target I would pick up the iron which distorted the signal .

I dug the target 3 inches down and to one side I get a nail but there was something else in the hole at 6 inches a wheat back yes . So since I had the hole opened up I place 2 nails and the penny like my video and covered it up back to high trash good signal both ways with a occasional false then I tried ferrous coin combine open screen no disc and got a high tone both way (what) it was a high tone mixed with a grunt on each side . Now I added disc to the 31 to 35 line no grunts just a nice high tone with a occasional false .

Put the nail and coins on the ground like in the video and sweep it in ferrous coin combine and guess what 3 low tones so I am wondering if it is the sandy soil I have in my yard. Because now I know that combine works like it is suppose to . By the way I tried this at another site same thing it gave a low high low in the ground then on top of the ground it gave a low low low

What did I learn that little bit of disc 31 to35 made that signal as clear as a bell compared to just open screen and besides I don't have to listen to all that iron .Now this does not seem like much but when that coin is with nails or iron it is a lot easier to pick that high out of there without all that grunting .

Gary next time your out dig a hole and put that dime and to nails like the video see what happens .sube

This is the beauty of the CTX it is very simple to check them with both setups with just a push of a button. In my test that I did I did not come up with anything in the Conduct mode that I would not have dug in the Combined FC mode but that just may be the circumstances of the targets and the vicinity of any iron near them. Also the fields I tested were ones that have given up great stuff so my predilection would be to dig any "iffy" signals anyway. I will continue to give this some more testing and report on my results.

Gary did you do your initial coverage in the Conductive and then check with the Combined or vice versa...or as I did switching modes at different periods of time?

Hi Tony
I dedicated my hunt to Conductive, and then if I came across a signal I would check it against my primary mode which is set up with Combined. I really doubt I would have dug this signal based on what I was hearing in Combined.

Unfortunately I didn't record from the beginning of the excavation which would have been great to see the comparison of what I was hearing or seeing, What I can say is that I heard the decent signal in conductive, switched to combined heard little, decided to dig, pulled out a square nail rescanned the hole and got a better signal and then found the mystery object.

i went xterra 705, etrac, ctx, deepest out of the 3, 705 with a NEL 12 x 13 , beat etrac with same coil, ctx with stock not the deepest out of the 3 , but like sube said finding a coin that was out in the wide open that all other FBS machines had missed like nothing within feet of it.

no detector is perfect but this one does well on the stuff i want to find with it, as i am not in the US they are different coins.

I spent another good hour and a half this morning trying out this new mode. I cleared out a lot of trash but didn't uncover any masked good targets.
Sube, I forgot to test out the mode with a buried dime and two nails. I will do it the next time that I am out

For sure AJ. This is a field you don't mess around in. It is the same one that I found the $$ 1793 Liberty Cap Cent $$ about three years ago..
At this point, The field is just filled with nulls. So, it is the perfect place to try a different approach to breath a bit of life in to it.
Unfortunately, I don't believe the farmer is going to disc the field this year either.

Gary, no idea what a 1793 Liberty Cap Cent is so just did an ebay search, and now I know  tell I am an Aussie , wow yeah if I had a spot that spat something like that out I would be digging things that even pretended to make a noise :poke:

might have to come over give you a hand :wiggle: but I would find one and it would have a big gouge down the front of it seems to be the best I can do of late.

so its back to pulltabs looking for that 4ct diamond ring  never know do ya that's why this detecting thing is so much fun :jump:

good luck out there and hope he gives it a spin for you :clapping:

AJ
