I have never seen a Booker T. dug up before ... awesome save !!

IT WAS ON IT'S EDGE AND I COULD SEE A CLEAR REEDED EDGE,THOUGHT IT WAS A NORMAL HALF,BUT WHEN I PULLED IT OUT,I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED,I KNEW IT WAS A COMMERATIVE BY THE WRITING,BUT DID NOT KNOW IT WAS LEGAL TENDER,EVEN THOUGH IT SAID HALF DOLLAR.GOT BACK HOME LOOKED IT UP AFTER THE HISTORY LESSON,IT IS A REAL HALF DOLLAR.I NEVER KNEW THEY WERE MINTED..
THANKS FOR LOOKING...mudpuppy

Thanks for looking wag-jr,I never knew either,my first.Got home done my history lesson .great for my collection

Cool find with the commerative half. I have heard that they made too many and couldn't sell them all as commeratives. So they released some to the public to just be used as half dollars and even ended up melting some.

Justin

Thats what I read Justin, they took out all they could out of circulation, a large amount of what was minted was melted for the silver. It was a bust as a coin

Thanks for looking and HH

I have seen them in coin books but never found one. Garrett and Minelab has a monthly contest for odd and unusual finds you should submit your find for sure. Congratulations on a great find. HH :minelab:
