Unmarked White Gold?

Jackpine Savage

Active member
I need to get a test kit, this is the second "gold" ring with no marking on the inside in the last year.

Sz 10, 8mm wide, weighs 7 grams and reads as nickel on my ID machine. Having handled a 'few' rings In my day it seems 'right' to me. What do you good folks think?

That might be Palladium, or this other material they make rings out of, I found one but I can't remember the two letters in it. but it's not worth as much as gold. Still you could have gold. test kits help a lot. Platinum is almost always marked Plat. Platium, or 950 so be sure it's not plat. or you could loose some big bucks. Gene

yes youll need a gold test kit or take it to a jewler..

Thanks Gene, It's definitely not platinum, just not enough weight to it. I can't think of any base metal that has the characteristics of this one. The small dents and dings seem to indicate it's has the same hardness as gold.

I'm pretty confident it is gold but will get it tested to be sure.

Thanks

Tom

Tom,
It could be white gold....but.....out here in Aus. stainless steel rings have become popular with some people...I've found a few, and the ones I have found have registered in our 10c range, which is the same as small gold or medium white gold. Looking at yours I wouldn't guess what it is, so the only way to know for sure is to have it tested. Good luck, hope it is gold.
