Unlocking your Etrac depth potential

well i promise you Ron that there are LOTS of items deep that you have left behind
so go back to your favorite places and ignore all the loud top crap.....
go open screen in MAN sens as high as the site conditions will allow
and dig all the deep stuff...you WILL surely find some really nice winners
no doubt there will be junk items and old rusty steel items too
but it is well worth it to save those beauties like explorer SE just posted

OK Gents....sorry for the crappy photos
here is the 1689 Gun Money James II Irish Shilling recently unearthed using the aforementioned open screen process and lots of time and patience....as discussed, this is NOT some new scheme or panacea.....this is just training your ears and mind to listen to the cries of deep coins that want a new home above ground!!
i have yet to attempt to clean this coin to any degree...sort of like it as is actually
tried to blow up the date but my I phone is tricky with that stuff
trust me, in person it is easy to see the 1689 date and it is very exciting!!

well played!
i am assuming this was recovered//discovered at a site you have hammered previously??

Yes it was I had previously gotten some other goodies but no silver. Unique because I had a foreign coin spill of 22 coins at the same location a month before. Thanks again Sunray!

Thread from the dead... I was away for a bit and read the comments... I went to another old school (1932) the past two weekends and whats shocking, I have gridded this area with my Deus, AT Max, F70 and only..ONLY when I took the Etrac, and worked slow I started pulling deep coins. Was it me or the Etrac? I say the detector. Ive been filming my hunts and posting on youtube, but I don't know if its kosher to link to it. or not. :sadwalk:

What's your channel Gannon? I'll watch them

The guy in our club who finds the most silver sets his E-trac up so that the deeper coins sound deeper than the shallow ones. He usually digs the deeper sounds.

I assume just by setting it at Deep Off so the audio isn't boosted?

I have a question about the Noise Cancel Channels on the E TRAC? Are any of you getting better depth results with any specific channel? I see there are eleven channels to pick from manually or we can let the E TRAC automatically select the channel after a Noise Cancel. My understanding of the E TRAC is it produces 28 different frequencies (FBS) and each of the eleven channels will use just three of the 28 frequencies during detecting.

Depends on ground moisture but I’m banging 9-10 Inch coins on all channels :clapping:

You're learning quick. You have a good grasp of the machine already.

Chattanooga! But I’m a coin hunter not really into relics.. I dig them but not feverishly like some of my buddies. I’m the guy pounding the same park for months on end!

I love doing both. I have parks I pound over and over as well.

Yep TTF Ferrous open screen with at least Auto +3 Sens (or higher manually if site allows) will get the deep stuff. If the Etrac says Iron with these settings it's going to be IRON, Low grunt? move on, High tone? I dig it. (I don't collect Iron relics) Pulled an Iron stirrup at 14+ inches with a good high tone even though it was an Iron stirrup because of the closed loop design of the stirrup.

Numbers are almost useless in heavy Iron with this setup but you will find some deep keepers. I do check the cursor position though.
