A friend gave me a bag of bullets he had collected in Arizona hiking and this item was in the bag, It has 1/16'' holes on each end is hollow but weighs a far amount and no corrosion under the what looks like a rock coating but is just from being weather exposed etc for a very long time. I can see a casting line going around it. I'm wondering if its silver possibly. Anyone have an idea what this could be ?

Sorry not silver. Looks like a lead “egg weight” for fishin. It should weigh about 1 oz. On a metal detector they come in like a zinc penny or civil war bullet. Still interesting unless there’s water nearby.

Absolutely no doubt. It's a fishing weight. Made of lead.

Think your on to something there. Also after writting the post i checked it with my detector and it jumped between a penny and a dime as both are zink.
Dont think its lead but zink and I just weighed it and comes up at 1 .98 oz not one oz
