Type 1 SLQ and a Couple Mercs !

Unfortunately she's slick and dateless. A couple weeks back an area of the old park I hit didn't pan out so I jumped into the nearest woods, an Ihp, a transit token and a crusty wheat made the day for me. Figured today I would hit those woods again and have to say, Not Bad ! On the way in I hit a recent drop quarter, so the skunk was off early. My first coiny signal was a high 70s/ 80-81. It was a Merc. I thought my silver train hasn't left the station yet. Dug a couple crusty wheats and a Buff. Then another Merc. A 25 gave up a small sterling something, not sure what its from. I have to say at this point, the targets were in the open, no real masking or Manticore magic that I could see. Also dug a couple memorials which surprised me due to the fact that those signals have all been Mercs lately. Later I got the best signal of the day. 92-93, coiny, from 3 directions It would jump to 96 occasionally but was screaming silver quarter. Popped a plug, still 90s it was loud and I'm thinking it has to be there. Carrot says deeper. A couple more shovels out. Scan, still deeper. Down a good 10 in.by now. This is usually when a promising signal turns to sh!t. I flip some more dirt and scan, it drops to 87 and I say, Aw don't be clad, move a little dirt with my hand and see the target, not black like I'm use to but dirty brown like clad.I rub the rim and see silver, YES ! try a little wipe, it had a crust that didn't want to wipe off. Spit on it, rubbed, when I saw the detail on the back I knew it was a type 1 and with the detail I saw on the front it never crossed my mind I wouldn't get a date. Reality check! Oh well she's still a sweet find for me. So a Buff 4 wheats, and triple silver made my day. I thinks I may have found a new honey hole. I just wish the ground was not so rough on the coins. Thanks for looking in. Mark

Yep, those SLQ are usually slick and no date. However, til a fun find as they are few and far between.

Nice bunch of silver and looks to be a great location with lots of potential.

WTG !!

Thank you Donna, I have been lucky with SLQs. I manage to find at least one each year. And as you said most are dateless. Good luck to you.

Nice finds there Mark!!
Even without a date, that quarter is a great find and they do not show up often for me.
Those two Mercs look pretty good for their age!!
