Two days of detecting. And as promised......

I had a serious itch to detect and the heat and humidity were cooperating. Over the last 20.5 hours I detected for 8.5 hours, drove for 4 hours, slept 5 hours, ate, showered, etc. for the rest of the time. I am very tired and will be in bed extra early tonight.

Yesterday. Looking for silver. Found 1927 Buffalo Nickel, 4 wheats, Christmas pin, bracelet, tokens, 197 coins. The story for the day. As I was thinking about leaving, I noticed a cop taking a long look at my truck. I walked over to see what was wrong and he reached into the cab. I asked if he needed help and he told me I was parked illegally. I really wanted to tell him to keep his hands off my stuff but I didn't want a ticket so I apologized and he showed me where I could park next time I returned. He was checking out the Lesche on the passenger seat, I guess. I didn't ask. The really odd part of the story is that at least 5 cop cars drove by my truck while I was there and didn't stop or do anything. There were no signs saying parking on the street was illegal.

Today looking for silver. No story. Found 1919 Winged Liberty Dime, 10 wheats, Norwegian coin, 187 coins.

The best of the two days. I like the green dime and the penny slice. The penny next to the green dime is coin 5,605 for the year. I found 5605 coins my first year detecting so I always note the date when I hit that milestone each year that follows. 2008 it was early July. 2009 it was May. This year barely made July. It took two big hunts. I think that's my first coin from Norway. 50 ore.

One last look. How tired are you of this thing? I'm estimating 9,000-10,000 clad coins, 40 or 50 silver rings, 3 or 4 gold rings, 40 or 50 silver coins, and 250-300 wheats have passed over her. Been using it for over a year. Closer to 13 months, I reckon.

Because I can't be trusted not to use it again....

I could have flipped it over and gotten another 6 months out of her.

Chris

I'm looking for something new to run into the ground now. Maybe I'll start reusing the water I rinse my clad in. Nah. That would be mental.

WTG Chris!!!!:clapping:

You inspire me to get out as often as i can
AND my sincere sympathy on the passing of
your towel.... I hope you can carry on ..

Rangers Lead The Way

Saddest part is I killed it. I'll manage. One day at a time.

What I find hard to believe is that I'm thinking about going out again tonight. I go through these stages. I'd say the last 24 hours have been my most productive ever, at least for clad.

Chris

You could have soaked the towel in oxyclean and maybe gotten another 5000 to 6000 coins out of it.
But now without the cosmic towel who knows??
As the Ranger said you're an inspiration to get going
Keep up your good work Chris
I always enjoy your posts

:usaflag:Silver is nice, but I love digging up those buffalo's. Nice haul Chris.

Thanks for the nice compliments. Inspiration? I don't know about that. Obsessive? Probably. I do really like free money. That much is certain.

Chris

He was OK about it. Up here cops are being used as revenue sources for budget deficits. Toward the end of the month they are ticket writing machines. What a load of crap. I want the old USA back.

Chris

I'm having a good year for nickels in general. I wish that meant I was finding lots of gold rings but I'm not. Only one which just plain sucks. On the other hand, I've found more Buffalo Nickels this year than in the past three combined. I like them a lot too. I wish they held up better in the ground.

Chris

I can barely walk this morning. Not my back or thighs this time. It's my shins. I guess a thousand or more deep knee bends was a bit more than they were up for. Two courses of action as I see it. One is rest. The other is stretch them out with a nice long hunt. I think I'll rest. It would be nice to start August off with a bang, though. Maybe a sunset hunt is in order.

Chris

TOY, RB! ;)

Nice haul. I can see why you're so darn sore, who wouldn't be after all that detecting. I love the item shown in the bottom of the second picture. It looks like a mouth piece/ear piece from an old telephone. You don't usually find those around any more. Good going.

Good finds. Glad you did not have a serious run in with that officer. Some are great people and some are not.
