TRX, Where's The Dirt Tests?

Is there a single video somewhere of the TRX comparitively tested in the dirt and not simply air tests?

I've never done a video, but when I was using the TRX there wasn't much if any depth difference I noticed between air and ground. The TRX has the ability to do a ground grab and then track like a regular detector.

Only after people with different ground conditions report will we know for sure. So far no one has reported being unhappy about performance. :clapping:

Hi,
To tell you the truth:
When I stick a pinpointer into a dug hole, I don

Will make my hunting much easier. When I hunt our city park I pull a good 5-6" dirt plug, clean out the loose dirt and try my Propointer. 80% of the time I get nothing becuase the coin is deeper generally just out of the range of my PP. Also, a lot of time I have what I call UDO's Unidentified Deep Objects. My detector says there is still something good in the ground but I have a 10-12" hole and my PP gets nothing so I just give up.. Another few inches may give a signal to prompt me to keep going.

Some people don't need pinpointer depth, that is why the TRX has two different ways to adjust the sensitivity, the quick ratchet method and the software settings that are remembered on start-up. I can go back to recovery methods I used with the SunRay pinpointers with the TRX. I could pinpoint targets down to 4 inches deep and recover them with a screwdriver instead of digging a plug. I think I will really like the TRX when this ground thaws and I get to go hunting again

I will have a video up later. I used it a lot today. Got pretty good depth in my ground.

Thanks to you guys doing dirt tests.
Still too covered with snow here in Chicago to get out and dig.
But I will get a chance to use the TRX probing a full vacuum bag for a missing gold earring though!
Cheers

I will try to bury some targets tomorrow at different depths and see what it will do. Today I just filmed my digging and using the probe.

I agree with skookum. It makes no sense to have a pinpointer that goes as deep as a small coil for pinpointing. It defeats the purpose of "pinpointing". You only need to be able to detect around 2 inches in my opinion when pinpointing. Fortunately the TRXs sensitivity can be adjusted. My opinion only

Bill I was watching you video. The TRX has the sensitivity at the tip on purpose. This helps when targets are in the wall of the hole. Without this feature you can be looking for a target with the tip in the bottom of the hole and be reading a target in the wall with the side of the probe.

When you use the TRX use the ground grap feature for max depth.

With my v3i and 12x15 sef I sometimes have holes as much as 40" in depth. The ability to see small targets is a must for me, some of my plugs can be 10" deep or more. The Pro-pointer is nice but leaves me wanting more. I spent my detector money on a new 8x6 after seeing all the good reviews of it. I will have to wait till next month to purchase the TRX.

I spent 5 hours with my TRX relic hunting yesterday. It is a very impressive pinpointer. To all who are afraid it is a power monster and isn't good at shallower depth...relax. you have the ability, as you are getting closer to the target. ..to detuned and decrease depth all the way down to 1/4 inch....is that shallow enough for you?
The beauty of this pointer is that it is so easy to use, is customizable to your hunting conditions and the adjustability is awesome.

Depth wise in an air test my TRX matches the propointers at the second setting. That's half way up for the whites. I won't miss my propointers at all...The TRX takes the enjoyment of this hobby to the next step.

Maybe if you would of dug a deep enough plug to start with:shrug: That logic makes as much since as digging a two inch plug looking for a 6" target, "and saying i need a deeper pinpointer:rofl:

The plug came out with 6" of grass roots. I cleaned out the loose dirt and if I'd had a pinpointer that would go more than 2" I could have save having to dig deep and could have just used my screw driver to pop the coin out. I'm just show why having a pinpointer that goes deeper than 2" is very practical. I have my TRX coming Thursday. Anyone who doesn't thinks you don't need a pinpointer that goes deeper than 2" doesn't dig a lot of deep coins. LOL

You are so right Terry A pinpointer that can get more depth is good you and I and others know how hard it is to find small or just A little deeper targets and how often we dig to the point where we give up once we hit the depth are Detectors show the target is at or should be then still dint find nothing A Real Treasure hunter knows that and when I'm hunting I need all the help I can get when Digging deep signals so I'm not shacking someone Else's hand on the other side of the world :laugh:so now I cant wait till my new TRX comes in and try it out HH All
