Made it out to a local picnic park in the woods today for a short hunt. Was working my way back toward the truck when I got a good quarter hit.
Pinpointed and broke open a small plug. Used pin pointer and no signal so went a little deeper and hit about a 3 in tree root. Pinpointed again and got good signal. Thought it was maybe on either side of root so dug around it. Pinpointed some more and de-tuned pro pointer and for crying out load the best tone was right on the root. Dug all the way under root and checked under it but still the best signal was right on the root. Well, I used the sharp edge of my 7 in 1 tool and started to shave down the root. Got 1/4 to 3/8 in and sure enough saw some silver. Switched to my pocket knife and kept cutting away around it. This was very hard to do and I ran out of time due to I had to be soccor dad tonight. I'm pretty sure it is silver as it is very shiny. I managed to get maybe 1/4 in. of it exposed. I cant really see any tell tale markings on it. It looks a little bent but seems to have a ribbed edge. The sides look smooth. Could the pressure made by the root growing around it have pressed it smooth? Don't know if It's worth all the work and don't think the park keepers would like it if they saw me cutting through there trees root. Any thoughts, ideas or past experiences welcome!
Thanks and HH
